I gave in and decided that I'm REALLY tempted to get my first Liberator shape early in fall semester. I'll need to wait to get to the dorm and make sure I have space for certain shapes, and I'll get fewer questions from my parents if it appears after I move to the dorms as opposed to during the moving. I am looking for a couple of different features/characteristi cs:
-super discreet shape (something like the Pulse might be a little hard to explain off as a pillow)
-relatively compact, hopefully so I could easily stow it on my bed with my pillows and still fit on the bed
-suitably shaped for at least reclining against, bonus points if it could be a nap-time pillow or sleeping pillow
-shaped well to support doggy style
I would prefer to order a shape from Eden, but I am open to ordering from the Liberator site if there's a shape that Eden doesn't have (Jaz Motion is the only non-Eden shape that really intrigued me). The Flip Ramp is still in the running, but I think I'd rather save that shape for an apartment where I have room for a chair-and-ottoman combination. The Wing looks nice because of the toy mounts, but I don't think I'd be using those enough to make them a deciding factor. And I'm at a loss to see the big difference between things like the Jaz and the Wedge...
Which Liberator shape for dorm storage?

Whirl can be explained as a body pillow without anyone questioning it. Plus it'll work for under the neck or supporting your legs when lying down.

The heart, jaz or wedge would be best. All three can easily be disguised as some sort of pillow for your neck/back/etc. They blend in on any bed with a pillow case, and are small enough to keep in a closet.

I have the Whirl and I leave it on my bed at all times. I have a 12 year old running around here and she even uses it to lean on while watching tv.. yes i wash the cover after use. It really just looks like a firm bolster. my mom even saw it and just said "nice pillow"

So far the Whirl XT seems to be the winner. Just curious, anyone know the difference between that and the regular Whirl on the official Liberator site? The colors of the Whirl might be more flexible for me, but I don't know if the two Whirl versions can be considered equally.

Oooooh. I couldn't find the dimensions of the regular when I looked haha. A foot longer would probably be too much for now. Oh well.

Ok, now I have to ask. The Whirl is winning for some good reasons, but no one has recommended the Wing? The Wing is a little wider, so is it less body-pillow-shaped? Are the holes very obvious? Is it much less comfortable? Is it poorly shaped for doggy? Why do such similar-looking pieces get such different votes?

The heart or the whirl would fit right in with any other pillows on your bed and just look decorative.

The Wing is more oval shaped and so much wider than the Whirl. It will be less discreet in my opinion. The holes for toy insertion aren't super obvious, but they will draw some attention unless you cover it up with a case of some sort. Personally, I find many of the Liberator pieces can be used similarly, just not as effectively. So I would say how you primarily plan to use the pillow should be how you decide on which shape to get taking into consideration you and your partners body sizes. Not every pillow works for every body size.

The Wing works well for doggie if that is your primary use. For us, it does not work well for lower back support (as with Missionary) since it is too high and the foam is firm. It's also a pretty large size and not compact at all.
I think the Whirl could be used for Doggie, I just think that the Wing would probably work better given its size and shape. I think the Whirl would work better in other positions.
The Wedge (I own), Heart, and Jaz all seem fairly similar, so if you chose one of those, it would probably be based on your body size and which works best for you. I'm not sure I would use any of them for Doggie unless you mean to be standing and leaning on it on the edge of the bed. They just seem a little low for that purpose.

I would go with the Wing.
I actually put a standard pillow case on mine so it protects it from lint and it honestly just looks like a nice full pillow in the case.
Unless someone touched it to feel the dense foam, they would not think twice about it.

I honestly never thought about covering a shape with a pillow case before I'm going to have to try that when I eventually get a wing. Thnaks foe the idea.

I mainly like the idea of support for doggy, so far I'm good for missionary. So that's where I might lean more towards the Wing based on your information. It's just rather disconcerting that no one's really voting in favor of the Wing.

Liberator Whirl.

the flip

The Jaz is always out and no one has seemed to notice. I usually keep it wedged between the bed and the wall. It's pretty great for doggy, and I regularly use when I'm reading on my side in bed.
06/12/2011
I would say the heart wedge or the whirl for ultimate discretion. The wing would work if you got a pillowcase for it when not in use

I voted the Whirl because it would be the most likely option to fit in with other pillows on the bed. The heart is cute, but if it doesn't go with your current decorations, it might stick out. I guess the big question is who you are wanting to hide this from...

Won't lie. We have EVERY shape pillow Liberator makes. The one that gets 99% of use..not too high, great for ALL position activities, is the JAZ!!! One of our more recent acquisitions.

I agree that the whirl would be very inconspicuous, especially if you put a cover on it.
06/24/2011
I keep my Wing on my bed in a pillowcase, but you might need an extra large one because you want to make sure that none of the holes for toys peek out and give you away. The Wing wouldn't make a great pillow on its own, but it's great for propping yourself up in bed if you put a cushier pillow on top of it. But if you need to share a twin XL bed with the Wing every night, it will probably be too big for your needs unless you like to sleep propped up. Twin XL beds don't have a lot of space for extra pillows. I love my Wing, but it's too big if you need to keep it on your bed all the time, unless you have an unusually large dorm bed.
Make sure you have a seam ripper handy for removing the "Liberator" tag that comes sewn on to all of them if you're not going to cover it with your own pillowcase. Otherwise, a curious roommate googling "Liberator" is going to bust you almost immediately.

I think the whirl or heart wedge are the most discreet. I had a body pillow in college, and I think that that's what most people would assume what the whirl would be. It's easy enough to just push to the bottom of the bed when not in use, or you could curl up around it when sleeping. I think that's probably the best option. The heart would be discreet as well, but I don't think it would be as useful. The wing could probably be discreet too, if you add a pillowcase over top to hide the holes. It's also much more expensive. If you don't plan on using it with toys often, it might be more worthwhile to get the whirl for now and upgrade later.
06/25/2011
I'd say the heart wedge or the whirl for sure. Those are the only two you could pass off as pillows without having to come up with some longwinded story. Plus either of them are both really cute.

Heart of Whirl XT both can be passed off as pillows
07/18/2011
The heart wedge. It makes a really cute center pillow on our bed. Nobody ever says "hey is that a sex pillow?" and its really cute!
07/18/2011
Having just come from living in dorms I would go for discretness... so either the jazz (because it's small) or the heart (because no one would ever question it).
01/15/2012
The whirl looks just like one of the fancy pillows that people buy from frufru bed and bath stores, so it'd be really easy to pass off as a regular pillow. Plus you could use it as a backrest if you read/study on your bed like I do.
01/15/2012
If you're concerned about being discreet then I would go with the whirl. It blends in as a body pillow.
01/15/2012
I think any of the first 3 choices would be great!!

The flip ramp is going to meet your need for a doggy style pillow however have fun hiding that in a dorm room. The easier to hide in plain sight is going to be the heart, you can but it front and center on your bed and no one will be the wiser.

Get the heart one- it looks just like a novelty pillow in my opinion and would probably function much like one. No one would question a heart shaped pillow on a girl's bed.
