Does any one know of any good alternatives to the Liberator Throe?

Nothing you can buy that I have seen.
I have had some thoughts on making one using some type of waterproof material. I am not sure if it would be as soft though.

Yeah, I have seen some waterproof picnic blankets but nothing as soft as the Liberator.

I think that you would have to put two layers together, much like the Liberator. Something waterproof with a soft washable removable cover.

Waterproof covers/blankets. They make them for incontinence in adults/children. It won't be as soft, but it will hold liquids fine.

I agree with what has been said. Though if you're really in a bind, you could get washable water-proof plastic/paper/whatever that you stick under sheets, and then go to a fabric store and pick out the softest fabric of your choice for two sides, cut everything to what you want, sew it, and presto!
In fact, the paper might not be good or too thin, so why not try a cheap shower curtain? (The plastic ones, not the fabric ones.) You can wash them in the washer just fine, cut them to fit (buy the biiiiig ones just to be sure) and then get the fabric you want. :3 just do put in the dryer, or if you do, do low knits/delicates/air dry. Or hang it.
...now I have the idea to make my own water-proof throes to sell! XD I loooove the minky fabric, I might have to do it now and see how well it goes!
Just remember to sew the edges with the curtain sewn in with it, or it'll bunch up inside. I also suggest adding an edging all around, too.
Anyone else done this before and have it work?

I've heard that you can get hospital pads that work OK but probably aren't as durable (or as nice of a color).
The Liberator Throe is expensive but a nice blanket. A little "crinkly" during use, but it keeps you warm if you wrap up in it afterwards.

I don't think that some of the nicer picnic blankets would be any less comfy than the Liberator Throe. I have the Throe and while it does it's job it's very crinkly and not terribly comfortable. In the end, I think one of the picnic blanket dealies would work just as well.

Thanks for the suggestions!!!

We use this for sitting on the grass, fire works, picnics, parties, outdoor activities etc.
Neat Sheet
It never occurred to me to use it during sex until now.
Then, I don't know if I would want the kids lying all over it on the 4th.

Mulder and I used his son's waterproof sheet-pad because I kept bleeding whenever we had sex (yeah, TMI, nyah); it saved his sheets and mattress all those times.
Had to really ignore the pastel cartoon giraffes, though.

That looks promising. Might need to get two, one for picnics and one for the bedroom!

We have a sleeping bag that we sometimes use. It is somewhat water resistant, has a soft lining and is big enough to cuddle up in afterwords. Plus it doesn't look out of place rolled up in the corner of our playroom.

wow, thanks for all the info guys!

Also if you were to sew over the 3 layer sandwich, Kind of like if you were making a quilt. This would stop the 3 layers from each trying to go in their own directions.

It could be as fancy as you want, or as simple as a few lines just here and there.

Keep in mind that every sew line means there's a row of holes that can let stuff through.

I wonder if you could get a waterproof layer that would work with that "iron to stick" stuff.
10/12/2010
probably could make your own but i don't know, sounds like too much work lol
The throe is definitely worth the money you pay for it.

I'm so dumb sometimes lol - of course sewing it would put holes in it thus liquids could possibly get through.

You can however buy spray on fabric glue, or sheets of double sided iron on glue like stuff from quilting/craft shops

I know in the dungeons around here in the kink scene, quite a few people opt for buying the ....believe it or not....ShamWow towels. A few of the more creative girls have made covers for their shams and simply use it, ring it out in the tub if needed, then throw it in the wash.
