Is this your first ring or do you already have a silicone ring? Silicone has a little give to it (not much really) whereas metal has NO give to it. If properly sized, either material can perform fine as a cock ring, so if it will be your first non-stretchy ring, I'd say stick with silicone as it is less expensive and you can check sizing and determine if you like that type of ring. If you already have a silicone ring and it works for you, I am not sure a metal ring will do much more for you, but the metal rings normally look great when they are in place. Metal is the choice to make if you want a ring that looks attractive.

Well we got one from EF today, and we have used silicone before, so didn't want to make the hubby too uncomfortable. Thank you for the info!

I love the silicone rings for day-to-day use - but I have a metal one that is nice for a change of pace - I'm going to get 1-2 more metal rings for variety.
