Are USB toys really worth it? I really can't think of a situation where plugging a toy into the computer would be easier than plugging it into an outlet.

I have a Mini surge protector that has USB ports on the side, so it makes charging my toys less bulky and more efficient. A standard AC charger is bigger than one outlet on average. It means, at best, you are usually only able to have half to 2/3 of your outlets used at any time on a surge protector.
A USB port is slim and fits in easily. That's why I like them. Then again,I have adapters, and I also like to charge multiple toys at a time.

I like the idea of USB toys. They offer a versatility when you have more ports than wall outlets.

I think there is really no benefit or downfall

unless you need your ports for something else, i see no issue. or just unglug the printer for a bit

USB toys are great for traveling internationally where outlets and voltage are different. With USB toys you don't have to worry about getting outlet and voltage converters.

I am also skeptical of USB toys. I never have my computer in the bedroom, which is where I store my toys, so I would have to bring them out into public space for charging!
That being said, there are adapters to make wall outlets into USB ports!

The one advantage I could see is that you could always buy a cheap adapter for a wall charger (or use one from an iPod or tablet, if you already own one of those). Then you have two ways of charging it depending on the situation.
