DIY Stripper Poles: Would you be interested to see how?

Contributor: ToyTimeTim ToyTimeTim
Hey folks. I see folks asking for stripper poles all the time and though "They would not be to hard to make", all you need is a pole and two mounting brackets. The big problem is the pole, to find one that is polished is the hard part as they are not always sold at Home Depot or Lowes. They do sell pipe that would work in the way of conduit for electrical applications. While it is not polished it is smooth and strong enough to support the weight of a person. The only other part is where to mount it, this to is pretty easy as long as you have a floor and a ceiling.

So I ask you, would you like to see how to make one for yourself?

no I wouldn't trust a home-made one, plus as you stated they wouldn't have the right polish and you'd have to make sure you pick an appropriate diameter. I'd much rather shell out the cash for an x-pole, which by the way also will not damage the ceiling and floor as they are tension based and not actually bracketed into the ceiling and they can still hold up to about 350lbs (i believe).

Thanks for you input.

The problem is that the real poles are engineered into the building, this is fine if you own your home but not if you rent. Diameter is nothing as pipe comes in all sizes. You could always polish it if you wanted too, it's just not everyone has the tools to do that.

I think it's interesting and I would definitely tune-in to see how the project comes along, however I was hoping you would start with something small and simple for those of us who are a danger to ourselves when set loose in Home Depot or Lowe's.

I would really love to see this, myself. I hope we'd get instructions for the type that braces up against the ceiling and floors and can be removed if necessary... but even if it was a permanent fixture I'm down.

(Maybe less 'down' and more 'climbing and spinning around.')

Oh no, this is just an idea I had. I found a great web site that has tons of things like this and just thought that I would ask about it.

I am thinking of a few idea's for the first meeting and figured folks could vote on which one they wanted to do first.

My idea will make it removable with just a few screws/bolts. My thinking is that folks that rent could still have one and only have to patch a few holes when they move. I can even do a meeting on patching holes too. (It kind of snow balls, eh? lol

This is a terribly interesting idea. I couldn't have one in my home, and even if I did would be too scared or bashful to use it. But, I would love to see how one could be constructed.

And also, what a freaking unique idea for a do it yourself.

That is interesting. I already have one I can take up and put down. Since I live in a apartment I rent I can't have one that I can keep up.

Could you be so kind as to post a pic or two. I would love to see how it mounts. I have an idea or two but would love to see it.

I could beg if needed.

not the xpole, it can be removed without any marks on the ceiling or floors because it works on a tension system, it's not actually screwed into anything it works on a tension system (kind of like a curtain rod i guess) it takes like ten min to install and even less to remove, and it doesn't sound all that sturdy but they're one of the leading pole brands on the market, I've inverted on them and never had a problem, I didn't know that they weren't bolted into the ceiling until I looked into buying my own.

Cool, that's even better. I was thinking about polls in strip clubs etc.. I'll look them up to see how they do it. One idea I have may just be similar in design.

Thanks Bex.
