I see storing toys in zip lock baggies as a bigger hazard. If they are not totally dry when put in the baggie, the baggie seals in the moisture and can cause all sorts of icky growths. I have seen it on other toys besides the sexual ones too. Not a pretty thing!
I use a canvas bag to store mine in, but the chances of a toy that does not already contain phthalates getting inside them through osmosis, and then getting from the toy into my body is a far stretch and IF it did happen there would only be traces of phthalates that would make the unlikely journey.

Yes pthalates could theoretically diffuse from your bag to a toy then from the toy to you.....but like, the scale we'd be talking about is so so so tiny that you should probably only worry about it if you've been eradicating pthalates from your life (so ditch the car, the linoleum flooring....and a lot of other common household stuff....first).
The issue of pthalates in sex toys is that they can be very plentiful in toys (as a point of comparison, vinyl shower curtains are 60% pthalates!). A toy sitting in a pthalate ridden container would pick up some if it was porous enough....maybe like 5%, which is really generous. Not really enough to worry about, like I said, given that so much of our lives is pthalate rich by comparison.
But I agree with your overarching thinking. I try and buy pthalate free products when possible, as I prefer to attempt to limit my exposure as well. I wouldn't be throwing out my FYN bag over it, that's for sure!
