Spot Testing

Contributor: Rin (aka Nire) Rin (aka Nire)
I'm aware that high-grade silicone toys can sometimes be used with silicone lubes, and that a spot test should always be done before this is attempted. My question is: how long should you wait for a reaction before giving the all-clear?

Dwtim actually did a workshop on lube compatibility. I'd wait about a day or so. Put the lube on the spot, let it sit for a few hours or so, and then clean it off and leave it be for a day or so then check back on it. Tim found that there was some initial reaction but that the damage went away on a few of the toys he experimented with.

Yup, Sam pretty much covered it. Place a small dab on a unused area and wait about 1-2 hours (Sometimes you will get a reaction immediately) clean it off and if there is signs of a reaction let it sit for a few days. If it goes away all is well. If not use a condom just to be safe.

Thanks, everyone! I don't have any silicone lube currently, but I've been thinking about getting some and I want to be sure I do things right. You guys are awesome.
