I just ordered the Doc Johnson Classic Dong yesterday... and afterward started reading about all the different materials in more depth... does anyone know how much Phthalates and Latex Rubber/Vinyl Rubber usually contain??? If I soak it in warm water and soap for a while would that help???

I am not sure. But if you are worried about it, you can use a condom with your dildo. I always purchase silicon or glass. Mostly because we do not enjoy the feel of rubber or jelly.

The phthalates are an integral part of the material mix, sort of like the Lycra in Spandex. Soaking isn't going to help.
There are two main concerns with the cheaper materials: chemicals leaching out are one of them, and the other is keeping them clean because there are lots of microscopic nooks and crannies in them that pathogens can hide out in. Using a barrier is the way to go to protect against both of these problems.
Nonporous, bodysafe materials are the way to go for future purchases.

You could also cover it with a condom or toy cover..

I got it in the mail... and the package actually says that it is "Sil-a-gel" and "Non-phthalate" product... but it did smell very rubberish... so I will be covering it with my sleeve or a condom until I order a silicone toy...

I wonder if they have updated it or something? the doc johnson site still lists it as rubber. I wouldn't trust the packaging.

If you are worried about it, use a condom, but personally I use rubber toys while they are not as great as other materials they are still safer than jelly and as long as you are keeping them clean, properly stored and not sharing or changing holes you should be fine.
