Concerns about PVC

I've been wondering lately, because I know enough about Jelly to NOT buy it, but I was wondering..why is PCV so bad?
I understand it's rated 2 on the material safety meter, but is it similar to jelly?
Does it burn, sting, tear, you get the drift.

Why is PCV not a good material? I'm simply curious and would like to know more.

Here is the material information page.

As you look down towards how it should be cleaned, it can not be sterilized which means that it shouldn't be shared unless you use a condom. Not being able to clean your toys as well always makes them less safe. You're safer using a glass toy that you can bleach or boil vs PVC which, like jelly, can't have either method used.

Also, if you want a softer toy, it includes phthalates, which are harmful. A lot of people wont even use PVC toys internally, because they want to avoid phthalates.

That's just what I know about it right off hand

When I said safer using glass, that was just an example. There are a lot of safer materials than PVC

PVC also contains BPA, which is bad too.

PVC is pretty porous. You can mitigate some of the cleaning issues and possible health worries if you use a condom with it.

Good and Bad are subjective to products and uses. Some people prefer to use condoms over toys for cleanliness or sharing, and for those people the material of the toy isn't really a major concern. The water that flows to your kitchen sink might flow through pipes made of PVC.

I am just saying, the materials themselves are not bad, it is how well they suit your needs. I see people complain about materials and softeners in some toys, but do not complain that these same materials and softeners are used in the containers they store their families food in.
