All lovers of glass: what in the world is wrong with every single glass toy I receive?!

Contributor: DreamWolf DreamWolf
It just drives me nuts, and weirds the hell out of me...

Every single time I receive a glass toy I discover a minor scratch, and very often more than one, and I just can't believe that I am so damned unlucky with them, wondering already if every flaw in glass toys is to result in getting a replacement!

I may be too rigorous when it comes to inspecting them first, but my, what is the thin line between acceptable and not acceptable? I have this whole pile of glass dildos and vibes already I still haven't tried (exactly, I still haven't tried any glass at all because of that!), and I wonder how long it will go on like that!!! :S:S:S ~growls quillruffly and sighs sad

SSA Glass quality, did you get the toy you ordered?
You know I've had several SSA glass toy's that I've ordered and NONE of them have been the same as the dildo pictured! They differ GROSSLY from what..

Do you like Glass or Wood?
Personally, I have only used silicone/hard plastic vibrators. Which, in your opinion is better? Glass or wood? Please explain. I am curious, but don't

Glass
To use a glass dildo or not to use a glass dildo? That turly is the question. What are your thoughts?

I feel your pain. I ordered my first glass piece (Don Wands Candy Cane) on Amazon, and it was scratched. Since they don't accept returns, I decided to no longer order glass from Amazon, just in case.

I then ordered four new pieces from EdenFantasys during the Labour Day Sale. They just arrived today and all four of them have these super tiny scratches, at least two, somewhere along the piece. It's so disappointing because all I want to do is try out glass, but yet I can't. :/

Glass will scratch, if they aren't rough spots then you could always try it out. I have yet to receive a scratched piece from Eden. Are the scratches on the surface? Could they be "flaws" in the glass like under the surface? Depends on what you are wanting to do, if you got them from EF you could always return them for a refund.

The scratches are on the surface. When I run my fingertip over them, I don't feel anything. But when I run my fingernail over them, I feel them.

"Super tiny" scratches aren't a big deal and won't compromise the integrity of the toy.

I have a pretty big collection of glass (40'ish or so pieces), and your post made me curious, so I dug out all of my glass and examined it for scratches. I would say at least half of them had small scratches on them. I am sure that they all came that way, as I use mine, wipe with a antibacterial wipe, and put back in their storage bags.

I honestly never even looked for scratches until this thread came up. Chips or cracks, sure, but never examined close enough to look for small scratches. I would venture to say that that is simply a part of the nature of glass.

I have obviously been using scratched glass for a long time, and never even noticed, or had a problem of any kind. So, I can't imagine it being a safety issue.

I am the total opposite of a perfectionist, so this kind of thing would not bother me, but if you like things perfect, glass might be a tough material for you to love.

its glass... its gonna get scratched... its not a big deal tho, as long as you clean it well before and after use then a tiny scratch isnt goign to affect is at all. theres no reason for all those toys to be piled up unused LOL unless its an actual crack or chip or something major it's fine... i've never received a piece that had any noticeable cracks or scratches and i love glass so i've gotten several for EF.... its not as if bacteria can really cling to the glass and become a problem, just keep it clean and your good to go

This is unfortunate to hear. I hope you can still use some of them.

If they're noticeable flaws that ruin the toy and not just cosmetic, maybe your delivery people are really rough.
Never tried glass, so my only recommendation is perhaps switch up delivery methods if you can, and see if that helps.

One of my glass toys has a scratch, and when I first noticed it I was pretty upset about it, but it's not noticeable in use. I was afraid of getting cut by it, so to reassure myself before risking any valuable body parts, I ran my tongue over it, to no ill effect. (Your tongue is more delicate than, say, your finger, was my thinking.)
