Glass Prices?

Contributor: JessCee JessCee
Why are some glass dildos in the $20-$30 price range and others that look similar over $100? Is there really a difference in the glass or quality?

It's the same type of glass (borosilicate). However, some companies use techniques that are more difficult for the sculptor to do, so they cost more (such as those marked "dichroic"). Sometimes it's just a matter of branding: as in, Phallix tends to be more expensive.

Most of the higher priced toys are made by hand one at a time. While most all of glass is made by hand, the pricier one's are not made with a mold. It is easier to mold a toy and then add texture, bumps, swirls, etc. verses starting from scratch. Hold them side by side and you will see a difference in quality and attention to detail in the higher priced glass.

I had never even thought about the work that must go into some of the higher priced ones... I think I'll save up for one of the more expensive ones just so I can see the difference. Thanks for explaining, Dwtim.

I think it more has to do with the design labor, -vs- the material cost.
