it is ironic that there was a discussion about storing toys earlier today and I found something that I think would be useful to the community. I found some great bags that come in satin and velvet for toy storage. They are wine bags, but work perfectly for toys. They provide a great protection for glass toys. I found them at Dollar Tree, and they are currently Valentine's Day themed. They come in pink, purple, red and black with embroidered or sequin hearts on them. I bought some because I have been getting toys faster than I can make little t shirt pouches and these are much more attractive!!
Found great bags for toys.

Looks like I'm going to have to make a run to Dollar Tree tomorrow!!! Thanks for the tip!

How do they close?
02/02/2009
I have wine bags that close with drawstring loops- is that how yours work Cinnamon? I never considered these but sounds like a great idea!

sounds cute! I've been meaning to pick up some cheesy-cute valentines, so I can grab those while I'm at it.
02/02/2009
They have little ribbon strings on the back with a bead on each end. They wrap around to the front to tie. It will fit even the largest toy I have. I am going back tomorrow to get a couple more.

Great idea!

I make it a habit to not go into dollar stores, but I must say that this is pretty tempting. Thanks for the heads up!

Awesome. I'll be going by the Dollar Tree tonight!

I bought a bunch of these around Christmas (for the more obvious reason of putting wine bottles in ), and I have some left. Now I know what to do with them

I went to a Dollar Tree today but couldn't find any. I did some online browsing when I got home though, and found these link so I got them.

I have only found them at 2 out of like 8 Dollar Tree stores in El Paso. It is mostly the bigger stores that have them.
02/04/2009
I loves me some Dollar Stores, so I'll have to keep an eye out for that stuff!

The shipping continues to go up with additional quantities so these end up being in excess of $2 each unless you buy 30 or more. I went to Dollar Tree and found the ones originally mentioned in this discussion but found them a little gaudy for my tastes. I found some natural muslin bags at papermart.com that are relatively inexpensive if you don't mind buying quite a few. The 8"x12" size is only $22.80 for 24 bags and the 5.75"x9.75" size is only $17.04 for 24 bags. My total with shipping was only $46.22 for 48 bags which is less than I would have paid for 48 bags at Dollar Tree and I think these will be more versatile. Just thought I would pass on the information. This has been a very useful discussion for me.

I haven't seen the Dollar Tree ones yet - but I love gaudy, especially if they sparkle.

You'll love them then, because they definitely sparkle.

I didn't think of them as gaudy, but I was think of the function not the fashion. They fit my stuff and were inexpensive. My favorite thing is my craft tote from Wal Mart that holds TONS of toys was $10 and the pockets seem like they were made for dildos, vibes, batteries and condoms. I also picked up the little wedding treat bags with a drawstring top for cock rings and sleeves. They were 12 for like $2.88 and fit them perfectly.

I only saw a few with sequins and it was just a heart on the center of the bag. Maybe there are different ones available.

You're right, I don't think they all had sequins on them. While I am usually very much about function over form, the thought of even purchasing them embarrassed me. I guess that's why I don't make it a habit to go into brick and mortar sex stores either. Since they were using ribbon ties to secure the bags, I thought that a cinch type closure would be better as well. I'll update with how my choice worked out when I get them in. I still really appreciate the discussion because it made me rethink my current toy storage techniques and prompted me to find better solutions.

That IS a really great idea. That sounds like a wonderfully sexy and discreet way to store your toys...thanks for the suggestion!

I bought a couple satin bags online, but then I bought another vibrator, so I didn't have enough bags anymore ^_^ lol. So last night I made another one out of an old t-shirt. It was really easy, considering I've never really sewn anything. It's not as sexy as the satin bags, but it's definitely functional. Also I just noticed that it's leaving a little bit of lint on my toy, so next time I make one maybe I'll spring for some nice fabric.

Great to know. We have a new Dollar Tree that is huge so I will be checking it out. We also have a Mighty Dollar that carries lots of things like this. Great idea. I try to sew pouches for my toys but have gotten behind. A run to town sounds quicker!

They might not have them any more as they were Valentine promotional. I think I saw other wine bags there, but not a whole lot of cloth ones. Good luck!

I went to Dollar Tree last night looking for those bags, but found none. I think the store might have been too small to carry them.
One thing I did see there that had possibilities were microfiber chamois cloths (the kind used to wax/polish a car). They were hanging tri-folded, which made me think about if you sewed the ends of the tri-fold, you'd have a little pouch for a toy.It wouldn't be a "bag" or have a pull-string, but it would probably hold a toy safely in a box or drawer somewhere and prevent it from getting dirty or stuck to other toys. The wine bags are better because they require no work, but I'm just giving suggestions based on what I see. ^_^

I saw some there around Christmas time as well.

I'm going to put another plug in here for the plain muslin bags at papermart.com link I bought the 5 3/4" x 9 3/4" which fits most of our toys and also the 8" x 12" which fit all the toys we have. I'm thinking about buying a set of the 3 1/2" x 5" for the really small items, and maybe another set of the medium size since I have already used all of those. We even use a couple of the big ones for produce bags at the grocery store. These bags are easy to write on with a Sharpie so I can keep track of what is inside each of the bags without looking inside. I'm sure the wine bags work fine, but they don't offer much option regarding size. Papermart.com has a lot of different materials and stuff as well if you don't like the plain ones. I don't work for Papermart.com or anything, I just liked the bags and thought I would toss this back in here.
