I've never felt the need to flame-test mine. Plus, I'd be paranoid that I would ruin the toys.

I'd really hate to have to explain to my landlord that I burnt down his apartment building with a flaming dildo. Wait... No I wouldn't. That would be awesome. I just don't want to pay for it.

Ummm, no, but then again this has never crossed my mind.
I would do it with kitchen items, and I have. Nothing more annoying then a item that claims to be silicon and rated for high heats, to see it start to break down when you use it for cooking. Mostly spatulas and spoons.

I'm way too nice to my toys. I put them through quite a bit of rough play to test them, but nothing that most people wouldn't do.
02/08/2011
never occured to me
03/03/2011
I learned something new today but I still won't do it. If I ruined something I loved I would be mad at myself. No need to go there!
03/03/2011
I never test my toys like that. I am horrible at lighting matches anyway lol.
03/03/2011
I've never tried it...although I might in the future.
03/03/2011
never, but maybe i should...but then again, whats it matter? cant return it or anything.

I pay hard earned money for things, I have no true desire to light them on fire/burn/melt them.
03/08/2011
I didn't even know that you could do this. I might in the future if I suspect they're lying about materials.

I think The Husband would freak the fuck out if he came in and found me setting my sex toys that I claim to love so much on fire.
O.o
03/11/2011
I never have before, but i may now if i am not sure it is 100% silicone.
03/11/2011
I don't really care, tbh. I use condoms on my toys most of the time (especially if they will be going up anyone's butt).
03/11/2011
Oh I wouldnt do that!
03/12/2011
I've honestly never done this before. Now I'm tempted..
03/13/2011
I've never heard of this. I'm buying my first silicone toy soon, from Doc Johnson. It claims to be pure silicone but maybe I should test it anyways...

Chances are it is real. Most of the more reputable company's use good silicone.

If you decide to test it out, remember to only use a match and do it outside. If it is not silicone and happens to be TPR it can catch fire and it will not be easy to put it out, plus the fumes will be terrible and not good for you.

Why destroy the toy, just treat it the best you can.

This thread is both terrifying and wonderful.

i did not know about that

I haven't heard of flame testing till now, but it sounds like a brilliant idea. I usually buy my silicone toys from brands I trust though, like tantus and vixen creations and fun factory.
It seems like boiling (at least for dildos) would also be a fair test. If it melts, you know it's not silicone. Though you might risk ruining a pot there...
