Cleaning silicone with an old toothbrush

Contributor: Entropy Entropy
Has anyone tried this on their silicone toys? I've got a couple of silicone toys with a lot of texturing, and it's difficult to get into the small spaces to get it clean. Will toothbrush bristles damage or scuff silicone in any way? If so, is there a different device you would recommend to clean out the grooves?

And old toothbrush should be soft enough to not cause any damage, but you can always check it on the base or some other unsuspecting part of the toy before cleaning the whole thing first. The other thing I would try would be q-tips or cottonballs(could get a bit wasteful), or a thin washcloth with your fingernail.

Huh, I save old toothbrushes to clean boots and shoes, but never thought of them for dildos. Old toothbrushes can harbor bacteria so it would need a thorough cleaning itself first, but otherwise it seems like a great idea. I doubt it would damage silicone but like Sam said, you can always test it out on the base or an inconspicuous area first.

I just use a wet washcloth... a little pressure tends to clean out the grooves just fine. Toothbrush bristles tend to be made of a porous material and if you've previously had it in your mouth, well, they are covered in bacteria.

As long as the bristles are soft, you will be ok.
