Always use condom on rubber toys?

Contributor: kiwikiwi kiwikiwi
Hi,

I know about the dangers of switching holes without using a condom, or sharing rubber toys without using a condom.

However, what if I only use it on myself, and only vaginally? And will never share it with someone else or put it in my ass. Do I still have to use a condom each time?

I also know about the risk of re-infecting yourself with an STD, but I'm clean, so that shouldn't be a problem, right?

Rubber is porous, so no matter how well you think you've cleaned it, it can still be harboring dangerous bacteria. I'd recommend using the condom, or getting a safer material toy.

Well I don't put anything in my butt and if I ever did, it would never ever touch my vagina! Very gross, dangerous and bacteria nightmare! I also don't own rubber toys so I do not use condoms on mine. IT'S possible to do that and a good way to keep things clean/safe though. Many people do it.

This. Rubber is porous. So, it can harbor bacteria that can cause UTI's, yeast infections, and much more. No matter how well you clean it, it can still harbor these bacterias. So, it's best to use a condom or a better material. Silicone is what you are going to want to look into. I highly suggest you invest in Silicone.
