I'm wondering exactly why these are only single-use. I've read most of the reviews, but still do not understand exactly why (I would have commented, I just wanted to make a general discussion). Since it's silicone, shouldn't it be..? Or is it a really low-grade or soft silicone or something?

Hi Sir!

We have one and we've only used it once so far, but the top of the egg appears to be thinning, like it will break with one or two more uses. I think it is the grade of silicone, however, I really do think they can last more than one use. Many people I know who use them get at least a few uses out of them.

Glad someone posted on these because I'm infinitely curious about them. I hope someone does a video because I still can't get a good idea of how these work just by looking at/reading about them.

It's not because of the material, it's because of their durability (or lack of). The egg starts stretching out of shape during first use, and it's not all that hard to break through them.

Like everyone else has said, they are only made to last for one round (maybe two or three if you get really lucky). JR reviewed one, and there was definitely no "next time" for that egg! I imagine, though, if you use it as a vibe sleeve instead, that it would last a fair deal longer since it wouldn't be thrust into.

Thank you, everyone, for the responses! I understand now why it is. I just figured, you know, when something's silicone, it would be indestructible and would hold its shape indefinitely. I suppose not though, right?

Tenga has a video showing how to use the Eggs on a dildo. Do a search for "Tenga Egg Video" on your favorite engine.

I used my Egg by stretching it to cover my entire penis once or twice, and I noticed a bit of thinning/stretching at the top. I found that using it only about halfway (covering ~4") both felt better (the texture is more noticeable) and makes the toy last longer.

My guess is that the main reason the Tengas are sold as single-use is that the Japanese seem to like the single-use masturbator concept. They'll work several times (depending on how far you stretch them), and the silicone makes them easy to clean and safe.

I agree with ScottA here.

Granted, a mindful approach while using the Egg would help you keep it around for more than one round. I guess I'm not aware of much else when I'm getting close to finishing other than "OOOh, that feels good."

It helped me quite a bit when I noticed that a shorter stroke felt better, since the texture was rubbing against the glans (full-length felt more like a rubber glove).

The one we tried split at the top almost immediately after ejaculating inside it.

Beyond that, Tenga is fairly well known for their toys being disposable. I believe only the flip holes are intended to be more than single use.

Just finished using it. It is for sure a one time use thing and in my opinion it is the grade of super super soft silicone. It kind of disintegrates and thins out as you use it. Pretty impossible to use again unless you are a small guy.

Thirding Scott here. You can't really feel the texture when it's completely stretched out. My husband used it about halfway down and twisted it for more stimulation. The material isn't durable, but if you're gentle you can get more than one or two uses out of it.

Just wanted to mention, my man is not small, but was able to use the one we got twice before we designated it as a hitachi cover for me. It looks like it could get one or two more uses if he wanted, but it IS thinning, and we didn't want it to break in the middle of use.

I've used the one I got on my boyfriend once, and it's definitely not the same shape as it originally was, or as even in some places. It's still entirely in tact though so we'll get a second use out of it, and see how it looks after that.

Sir: They don't necessarily have to be for one use...since they are silicone, they can be disinfected, and they are incredibly easy to clean out! The tops are a bit thin and will eventually break, but you should be able to get a few uses out if it!

I'm tempted to get one and flip it inside out and see if it preforms well as a toy cover (I could use it on a tantus silk, that has no texture of it's own)

It depends on how much you stretch them. If you just put your glans inside and do things like spin the Egg it will last for a very long time indeed. If you're large and you pull it down to the base of your penis then it is one or two uses. Anything in-between will be, well, in-between.

I don't think they'd work well on a Silk because there isn't much on the Silk for the Egg to grab. It would probably work wonderfully on a massager (Hitachi, Wahl, etc.).

For people wondering how many uses you can get from these, I know my bf has gotten at least 3. He is about 8-9 inches. I don't think he is brutal with it though. Just uses it like he would his hand.

I would imagine it has much to do with the incredible stretch of the toy. I would think that it would be very difficult to make a toy that could maintain its extraordinary elasticity over time.

Like others have said, the material thins as the top with stretching, and with prolonged use, will break, unfortunately.

We have one...it tends to get stretched out after the first use. I really think that sex workers would find these very useful. They keep all the juices inside and can be disposed of afterwards.
