I have a dilemma. My boyfriend always asks for new masturbators, and usually I'm happy to oblige. I'll usually buy him a cheaper (not cheapest, but costs anywhere from $30-$50) masturbator as a surprise gift when he mentions he wants one. However, after the initial novelty wears off (usually after two or three uses), he will either get frustrated and throw it away because he claims it doesn't work, or he will literally just destroy it from intense use. Now he wants to try a more expensive masturbator, such as a Tenga Fliphole or Fleshlight. I'm willing to buy it for him if spending a little more money on a nicer masturbator will do the trick, but I'm afraid it's just going to another bust, and I will have wasted $70+ on a toy that he won't have/like after a few uses. So if you have used both cheap and expensive masturbators, does this happen to you too? Is it worth it to buy a higher quality masturbator, or is it just him?
Masturbators make him frustrated?

I have had a few cheaper masturbators which I have done reviews on, and all have ended in the trash after a few attempts at using them. I also have two fleshlights, one for over three years, and the other for just over two years. Both of them get used on a regular basis, so at least in my case, the more expensive ones are definately worth it.

Has your partner tried the sue johanson one? My partner has it and he really enjoys it. It's terribly inexpensive as well.

That's the one that just got thrown in the trash. I got him the Super Head Honcho about 2 months ago. He liked it for about 5 or 6 goes, then all of a sudden it didn't interest him, and using it only made him frustrated.

To be honest, in your shoes I'd be telling him to shop for and buy his own masturbators. Figuring out what toys someone likes can end up as simple trial-and-error, it's true, but it's unfair that your money is getting thrown away like that so frequently because he quickly loses interest in something that was evidently fine to begin with.
Just curious - what exactly does he mean when he claims it suddenly doesn't work anymore? Does he just get bored easily?

I agree with this. He should buy his own then if he has the tendency to just throw them away. Maybe he just needs a good porno?

Yeah, it does kind of piss me off that he keeps tossing the ones I get him, but I'm the breadwinner in the family so he doesn't have extra money to throw around. Usually we will go shopping for one together, he'll want one, and so I'll get it for him. But now I'm the one getting frustrated because I'm putting down money on toys he isn't even enjoying or using. I don't mind buying him masturbators, but I just don't want to spend a lot of our money on an expensive one if he is not going to like it.

Hmm. Conundrum. When I hear "boyfriend" I usually think "separate incomes," so I didn't consider that that might not be the case.

All I can really suggest then is that, whichever you go with, make it clear to him that it's a lot of money to drop so he needs to be really super certain, and not just toss it or forget about it the moment he gets frustrated - give it more of a chance, ya know?
In this situation, I'd probably try one of the Tengas, due to them being easier to care for and (from what I've heard) providing a more intense sensation.

Have you talked to him about your concern with dropping a lot of money on toys that in the past he has tossed?

Oh my. What a collection you must have?

This happens with every toy, a more expensive one won't change anything. What happens is that after a few uses and by washing and cleaning the toy, it loses its softness and becomes sticky and feels rubbery. What you need to do is use corn starch, yes from the grocery store, and apply it using your fingers to the toy and let it sit for a day. Presto, it feels like it did when you first got it.

I'm not making this up and it is needed on even the expensive toys ala fleshlights. In fact I first learned of this on the official fleshlight forum. That being said a fleshlight is well worth it.
Oh, and PS a guy who has to beg his gf to buy him a sex toy? Real manly man there.
