Nope, it's a gag. I agree with the others that said that if it looked realistic I might see it as sexualizing an animal.
My husband's friends got him one for his Bachelor Party. We had our parties on the same night, but at different places obviously, and he doesn't drink so after his party he came to pick my drunk ass up from my friends' house and I get in the car and there's this sheep sitting in the back seat lol. Unfortunately, we forgot to take it out of the car and the next day we get in the car and our two year old sees it and she was like "LAMBY!!!" she was so sad when we told her she couldn't keep it LOL.

I think this is more of a gag...and, personally, one I find a little funny. I don't think anyone who would use it would really be thinking about laying into a sheep.
However, I respect your views on the topic and you offer another angle I might not have considered otherwise.

You are right, and you are entitled to your opinions. Personally, I don't care for any or at least the majority of the novelty items, so I just don't really search that section of the site. I really don't enjoy looking at dildos or pussies (toys) that have fake pubic hair on them... so I don't look at them.
I'll speak for a couple of people here and ask, "Why are you so up in arms about a vinyl novelty when it's not even a live cast?" I could understand if you were wondering if a live-cast horse or dog (or sheep or monkey) dildo was over-sexualizing animals. I would understand if you felt like it violated EF EoC at that point too. I guess I'm just not understanding your issue with a slightly offensive pool toy. (that's just me...) If you could kind of elaborate beyond "I don't like it," I think people would (I know I would) be very appreciative. It would help us understand. less

I don't like to look at them either. I just don't know why anyone wants stuff like that.
Well, I'm "up in arms" about it because the idea is there. I just don't want more detailed versions of these coming out. I know it's just a gag gift, but you know, I just worry.
And sorry it's been a while since I've replied. I didn't set alerts on this post-oops.

I don't think sex toys should be taken seriously at all unless there's some child pornographic material or sexuality involved. Nearly everything else is just fantasy or funny. People have vivid imaginations sometimes and others just think the stuff is funny as hell. I don't see the harm.

I'm surprised that these novelty dolls make anyone uncomfortable. They are just silly. Also masturbating with one seems about as sexually charged as using a sock or washcloth. If anyone actually fantasized about sheep, they'd have a more "realistic" encounter jerking off with a wool sweater.

I definitely consider this a gag. They used to sell this in a local headshop, and I have considered getting it for a couple friends of mine. One, because he is of Scottish ancestry, likes wearing a kilt, and, well, makes a lot of jokes about lonely Scottsmen and their sheep. The other one, well, I was a little too afraid he might actually use it.

I thought it was pretty funny. It's quite clearly meant in jest, and even if it wasn't, it's like any real animal is getting hurt.

It's a gag gift. Some might use it like that, some might not. Just like the toys out there modeled after horse and dog dicks. Hell I buy and use them (the dicks because I am female obviously, lol). Silicone horse cock is awesome, applies good pressure. But is it bestiality? No, you're not committing the act with a live animal, just a piece of silicone. And this toy being talked about is just basically an inflated bag with stuff drawn on it to make you think it's an animal.
While some may not like it, it's a niche out there, and others will capitalize on said niche. less

Even if we discard the whole gag gift idea (which we shouldn't, because that's precisely what this is), there's a distinct difference between enjoying a toy shaped like an animal and actually committing acts of bestiality.
Heck, how many toy users have a vibe with a little bunny attached? Does my owning a Little Dolly mean that I wish I had a real, live, teeny-tiny dolphin to jam up inside me? Of course not. The very notion is just silly, and shouldn't be thought of as anything else.

This is what I was thinking.. There are so many vibrators and other various toys that AREN'T intended as purely gag gifts that have depictions of animals included, but it's far, FAR different from any legitimate bestiality. Even if anyone were to seriously use this inflatable sheep as a 100% serious sex toy, that's just their business. It's sold as a novelty and is far from realistic. I don't think this is sexualizing animals in the slightest!

Well, yes, it's a gag, but the joke is about fucking animals. So yes, there is some inherent sexualization of animals built in.
Clearly it's not meant to be taken seriously, and it's a less creepy than a fake sheep doll that strives to be "ultrarealistic". If EF wants to be 100% free of animals sexualization then it has to go, but personally to me it seems pretty harmless.

I don't mean this in a confrontational way, but I think you're making more out of it than needs-be. It's listed as a "Gag" and "Novelty" and "Party favor." Sure there are the rare few that would use this as a sexual device, but there are people who use hairspray bottles and remote controls as sexual devices. I find that those people are in the minority. As long as no one is explicitly describing their sexual experiences with the goat (or the pig, or the cow that are also for sale), they are not in violation of the EOC.
I do appreciate your sensitivity to animal rights and your abhorrence to sexualizing animals. And I do agree with Yoda in that there is an epidemic of silence in our society to speak out against offensive things, and in that I applaud you, but I think there is a better way to address your offense at this product. Perhaps sending an email to the appropriate person, perhaps Victoria, would be a more effective way of seeing your needs met. Personally, I tend to simply not look at the things that are "offensive" to me. (i.e., like going to websites that sell completely outrageous (to me) types of sex toys.) less

The way I see it, is if someone has an animal fetish, Id rather them have sex with a blow up sheep, rather than go act on the real thing.? Meh. The blow up sheep doesn't offend me, but at the same time I have no interest in it.
10/03/2011
I'm torn on this one: I have a great sense of humor, so I did laugh at this, but I got freaked out by the fact that it is on a sex toy shop website. I am an animal rights activist, so I can't help but feel squeamish about seeing it on here. But yeah, it's just a gag and it looks too silly to be like a real sheep. I just really feel bad if people actually do have sex with that thing...

No, I don't think it is sexualizing animals. This is a funny joke gift, or maybe even to use for the lols. There are lots of other things on EF that are meant to be funny, or not taken seriously- including the other gag gifts and some of the costumes.

probably more of a joke, as the sheepherder/bestiality joke is common in cultures. some may find that it sexualizes them, but everything will affect someone in a weird way, look at taxi driver and hinkley, or the catcher in the rye.
