I hate oil-based lubricants. I do not like feeling greasy, and especially downstairs! I have an oil-based organic lube that's really nice, but I cannot stand to put it downstairs. Ick. Plus your vagina has more trouble "shedding" the oil based stuff & that just sounds like bad news. I like Yes! Oil Based lubricant for back rubs or something, but I just do not like it downstairs. The good thing is, I also have the water-based version of Yes! & I like it much better for genital use.

I'm with you! The thought of using oil there is completely unappealing. Water based feels so much cleaner to me.

Definitely water based lubes!!! Easier clean up and it also does not ruin the material on my silicone toys!! Oil can really damage silicone and make it unsafe to use.

Both! We use water-based for Vaginal play. We also frequently use oil-based lubricants for anal play. We have never had any issues with oil-based lubricants damaging the silicone and do not expect to.
Some silicone lubricants may bond to some silicone toys damaging the surface, so we avoid using it with our toys.

I wouldn't put something greasy and oil-based in my vag.

Water based all the time, every time for us.

Water based. I've always heard that oil based can clog vaginal pores and cause infections?

I use Water based for everything, can't really say I've ever used oil apart from maybe a sample sachet.

Only water based. The clean up is easier and I don't have to worry about any reactions to it.

I pick water based every time.

Oil-based lubes are not good for vaginal use! I like water-based lube with silicone toys!

I only choose water or silicone based lubes.

Water based for me too. I know a lot of people have been jumping on the coconut oil bandwagon, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

I choose a nice thick water-based lubricant. Universal usage, easy clean-up, etc.
Oil-based lubricants will NOT damage silicone toys... however they may not be ideal for vaginal use. (Due to issues already mentioned in the thread.)

Even before knowing how to properly care for my silicone toys, or even starting a toy collection, i always used/preferred water-based lubricants. While silicone lubes will last a little longer and has a wonderfully smooth texture, they can degrade materials and are not suggested for use with some condoms. Oil-based lubes, to me, just seem runny and too "oily" to use on my genitals, so i would really only use them for massage purposes.
I've use water based lubes for years, mostly because they're safe to use on my ears to help with stretching and massaging the tissue, as well as on/with other piercings. I find the clean up, used on my ears or on my genitals, is much easier - although they can be a little more sticky than some other lubes. They're also so much safer for those with allergies and for use with any and all toys.
