Depends on the use. LOVE silicone for partner play and any non-silicone toys, but alas my favorite toys are silicone and thus not compatible. But what it really comes down to is brand and type. There are some water based lubes that are far better than some silicone. But as it stands my favorite silicone beats my favorite water based.

If I'm not using silicone toys I love to use silicone based lubes. When I use water based lubes I am either using a silicone toy, or I want that "wet" feeling you get from water based lubes.

I like to use silicone lube for anal sex or anal toys that are not silicone. I use water based lube for vaginal intercourse, toys that are silicone.

I prefer water based but I will use silicone at times. Mostly because I have had a bartholin cyst and my doctor told me it was the lube I was using. Which is why I never use oil based lube, and only use silicone lubes infrequently (vaginally).

I use a lot of silicone toys, so I stick to water based.

I use both but mostly water based because of silicone toys. However, if I COULD use silicone based for everything, I would because it has better staying power.
