Safest Lube

Hi, I was wondering what the safest lube is to get that is edible and oily like olive oil if there is something like that. Also that is safe for silicone toys.

Thanks!

Try food-grade coconut oil. Get one that's organic, unrefined, cold-pressed, and extra-virgin (they're available at retailers' natural food section). Coconut oil moisturizes well and is great for both vaginal and anal use (it has natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties). Coconut oil is compatible with silicone toys. The only problem with coconut oil is that it weakens latex condoms, so you can only use it with the lambskin and polyurethane ones. I don't use coconut oil on myself because I don't like that very mild coconut scent, but I do like eating it on my toast — it tastes pretty good!

Hi, I was actually looking into getting some coconut oil. I wasn't sure how good it would be for lube but I would really like to try it though, see if I like it or not. I found some brand called Carrington Farms that is supposed to be pretty good. I'll just try some of that and see how it goes. Thanks for the help!

My husband and I have actually tried cold pressed coconut oil and it worked great. I'm a lover of the fragrance (which is fairly mild) so it didn't bother me. The taste isn't bad either if you are doing any kind of oral play. It truly is the multipurpose alternative

You're very welcome! Carrington Farms is a reliable brand, and there's another one called Nutiva. You can check this website out, it compares several brands of coconut oils.

I have to make a correction: it should be "virgin" coconut oil and not extra-virgin coconut oil ... I'm too used to the term "extra-virgin" when I talk about EVOO, sorry!

I'd also recommend coconut oil. It's great for massage and hand-jobs, especially if you warm it up first.

Thanks for the replies!

Sounds like coconut oil is widely used for this purpose. I was going to go with Carrington Farms but a jar was over $70 on Amazon and I found a brand called Natures Way and it was a smaller jar but it was only $14. I read that website and it didn't really say anything about that brand being bad so hope that's OK. Just out of curiosity, would olive oil be safe on silicone?

Nature's Way brand is reliable too. I'll leave you a link to the site where I buy a lot of my vitamins and herbal supplements, they're currently selling a 16 oz. Nature's Way coconut oil at a discounted price (US$8.78).

Are you a Costco member? They only charge US$19.99 for a 54 oz container of Carrington Farms coconut oil.

Since you don't have a profile page, I'll just post the links here:

I just ran out of EVOO, so I can't do a spot check on my silicone toy for you, sorry! From what I've heard, olive oil should be safe on silicone toys; however, they're quite greasy and will stain your sheets. I think it's better if you go for coconut oil.

Yea Natures Way must be pretty good cause there are mostly good reviews of it so that's good.

Are those sites American? I'm from Canada but does Costco.com or that other site ship to Canada? Seems the US sites always have more stuff but the problem is they don't always ship here. Guess I will have to move to the US lol.

As for the Olive Oil maybe I will just try it out like maybe put some on the bottom of the toy and see if it affects it in any way, sure hope it doesn't.

Nature's Way is available in Canada too. Type your postal code in this link to find the store nearest you: Canada store locations.

Yes, you can do a spot check with olive oil, there shouldn't be a problem.

Sorry for the delayed post.

I bought some Natures Way coconut oil and it worked out very well for me. It smells good and works great. I thought it was gonna be hard to use because it is kinda hard but it melts fast and becomes a great lube

Just chiming in so to activate Eden points. I'm using Viva Labs coconut oil, meets all the criteria folks call for these days. Great for couples play and self indulgence. I,m not sold on it for skin care as I don't feel as if it truly absorbs into the skin. Tried to swallow a tablespoon of it as a dietary supplement as label suggests but gag reflex cause me to spit it out. Does taste better licked off your partner's skin
