Maximus burns for Anal. Alternatives?

Contributor: shankinbro shankinbro
So I'm looking for a good thick water based lube for anal. I tried maxmus, but it gave me a burning sensation. (Im not sure why...)

Can you guys recommend an alternative that I can look into?

Personally I use Maximus, but I know others have recommended JO H2O, and Probe Thick and Rich.

My first anal specific lube was Anal lube from California Exotics. The only thing I did not like was the bottle and lid. It works ok (the top) but I really prefer a pump top.

Did it work well for you? Im just worried about reacting to another lube like this. It kind stinks dropping money on something you cant use.

Hm, that is worrisome that a lube like Maximus caused burning at all for you. I would definitely try another just to see if you're reacting to a specific ingredient in it. But if you keep getting the same reaction, I would assume that it's not the lube causing it. It could be that you have a raw spot or small scratch in the rectum from anal play and that would definitely burn but outside of lubricating it would go unnoticed.

As for recommendations, I've heard nothing but praise about Gun Oil from close friends of mine. Just keep in mind that this lube is silicone based and not water based.

Good luck!

Worked real good and lasted a good while. What are using it for? Guessing silicone toys?

Well, the first anal lube I've tried was KY Jelly(normal stuff) and that has given me no problems. I've tried the maximus multiple times and found that it is indeed the lube that was causing it :\. My GF doesn't feel the sensation, so im going to asume that I'm reacting to an ingredient in it.

I think I'll try the probe lubricant because of it's epic-thickness.

yea SI toys. I think because of the ingredients I'l try one of the hyper-natural lubes mentioned above.

It may be the parabens in the toy that you are sensitive to? I would recommend Sliquid's Sassy Booty Formula because it has no parabens, glycerin or anything that might irritate a sensitive user. You could also try this all natural water based lube for anal.

Probe is the bomb. Also, try Intimate Organics Anal Lube.

Thanks for the advice guys! I've decided on the sassy booty lube because of the lack of parabens and glycerin. (figure that raises my chances the most)

I'll write a review after a rigorous testing procedure, haha.

I have burning with some lubes as well - no problems with Probe Thick and Rich (so that's become my go-to-lube. I know parabens are a problem, but there's also something else in some lubes that don't have parabens that burns (Boy Butter is one example).

Let me know how the Sassy Bootie works, since I'm interested in lubes for sensitive people as well.

I find that glycerin seems to be more of an issue for vaginal use. If concentrations are enough it can have a laxative effect or burning, but lube concentrations don't seem to be enough to cause a problem.

I'd stay away - it has parabens (methylparaben).

I've ever tried it but doesn't Sliquid make an anal or gel lube? Plus it's all organic and such, too, might be worth looking into.

I had the same problem with Maximus. I used it for a while when I first started experimenting with anal, and I kind of thought the burning was normal. Silly me. I have found since then that silicone lubes are good (I like Funfactory Bodyfluid), and as far as water based ones go, I just got Ride H2O, and it doesn't burn at all. It's maybe not quite as thick as Maximus, but it is thick enough and works really well.
