Lube is definitely your best bet since saliva will dry up even faster than a water-based lube will! To ensure a long-lasting, juicy experience - especially for anal play - I'd suggest using a silicone-based lube as it won't dry up. But NEVER use silicone-based lubes with silicone toys because it can degrade or melt the toy. The silicone molecules from the lube and toy may bond together causing small holes in the silicone toy. When this happens, it can become a breeding ground for bacteria and makes the toy impossible to sterilize.
