The whole purpose of lubricant is to make things slicker so that things slide in and out more easily. From a strictly practical standpoint, there's nothing mental about it, but of course some lubes work better than others. Whether or not it makes things "hotter" is up to the person/people using it.
Some women produce lots of natural vaginal lubricant, while others will need a boost. (Trust me, I know: there's a lot of toys I wouldn't be able to use without lube, as I don't often produce enough on my own.) And most people require a lot of lubricant if you're talking about anal play.

The right lube can take "good" sex to "GREAT" sex.

if having sex is like rubbing sandpaper on your naughty bits; then yes, using lube really does help.

I don't know what I would do without the use of lube. I would probably give up on sex all together lol

Perfect comment. It's also easier to go for a extended play or sex marathons and it makes silicone easier to play with.
