Flavored Lubricants and Yeast Infections: any correlation?

Contributor: Meemers.94 Meemers.94
Hi!

So, I am curious about trying flavored lubes because they sound like a lot of fun. But I have also heard from some people and from the internet that flavored lubricants can cause UTIs and Yeast Infections .
Is there any truth to this? If so, what is is exactly that causes these?

I would really appreciate your advice!

Flavored lubes tend to have sugars (to make the flavor sweet). Sugar is the main food for bacteria, especially the bad bacteria in the vagina, as well as yeast. More sensitive people have a higher chance of infections.

Basically, check the ingredients, if you see listings like sugar or glycerine, the chances of getting a yeast infection from that lube go up. This is true even for non-flavored lubricants.

Yes, flavored lubricants that contain sugar or glycerin are very common causes of yeast infections. You should look out for those as well as other artificial and harmful ingredients if you are really sensitive. I personally have been able to use sugary lubes and even real chocolate syrup (a one time thing to never try again!) down stairs with no issue, but it's really bad for your cooter.

I would be careful if you must try them. Like I said I'm not that sensitive, but I do well with Wet's flavored lube. I love theirs! However, there are natural flavored lubes as well. If you aren't sensitive to these ingredients like glycerin, then I would say try with caution. I LOVE Jelique's products. They're all really fun flavored products. They have flavored everything and those never give me problems.

If you're worried, but want to try them. Just do so with caution. Wash really well afterward and don't use exceedingly. One question you could ask yourself that will help is: do soaps like your typical drug store body washes irritate you down there or give you UTI's or yeast infections? If not ever, then you may be okay to use (sparingly!) products that do contain the glycerin and such. There are flavored ones that are safer though.

And if it does so happen you wake up the next morning with what feels like the beginnings of a yeast infection, you can get rid of it immediately, naturally for less than a dollar. Seriously.

Oh wow. Thanks!
I am definitely staying away from lubes with sugar. But wait... Isn't there non-flavored lubes that have sugar as well?
