I've heard about it too and I've heard some very mixed results from using it. I have a friend who swears by it as a natural alternative to live. I also have another friend that used it anally and says it didn't help as much as you'd think, quickly dissipated and had to keep reapplying over and over. Honestly, I'm too nervous to try it for myself. But I think it may depend on a personal preference.

Now that I think of it, is it even safe?

That’s what I’m wondering to know, is it even safe to use. Same thing I’ve heard mixed reviews about actually using it & all I’ve ever seen is that it is safe to use. But it still makes me wonder.

Coconut oil is known as a natural and body-safe lube. We're selling hybrid version on Eden - the JO Coconut Hybrid Lube.

We absolutely love coconut oil - and because we use large toys and have frequent anal sex, we go through a ton of the stuff.

Not to worry I get the stuff for about $8/lb - compared to typical OTC lubes that will cost that much and more for a few ounces.

There is one small hitch - it will stain some fabrics - but we cover out bed with a Liberator Throw so it doesn't affect us.

Summer time tip - stick your coconut oil in the fridge for a few minutes before needing it - because it liquefies at about 80 degrees.

Ive actually found out, the hard way mind you, that I'm allergic to coconut. Needless to say I dont use it and label reading is my new past time since practically everything contains coconut now.

Yes, I've used it. I noticed that it gets a little gritty. But it works great. I'll have a large bowl of some sort, with 10+ toys in it ( plugs, glass, expanding, large and LARGER )whereby I can pour the oil over all the toys and not have to worry about reapplying to the toy. I've also filled a lube shooter full and emptied into my ass a few times, just to make sure I have enough. The more lube, the larger the toy or multiable toys at the same time for that matter. The feeling of being stretched is unexplained, for those who haven't experienced it.

Having a bowl of lube is actually really smart - for a really hot night, you should come prepared

I just discovered something new. You can buy something called MCT (medium chain triglycerides). It's a derivative of coconut oil that is liquid at room temperature. It is still rather affordable compared to OTC lubes - but more expensive than using convention coconut oil.

It's the long chain triglycerides in coconut oil that cause it to solidify below about 80F. Coconut oil can become gritty if the product is old or has gone through repeated melt-solidify cycles.

The label on the MTC oil that I have describes it as an "ideal carrier oil" - and recommends adding your favorite essential oil(s) to create fragrance for aromatherapy. We haven't done that yet, but I will and let you know how it goes.

Where do you buy the coconut oil? Is it safe to be inside the body if it comes from the grocery store or something? Does it have to be sterilized or something?

I get my coconut oil at a common grocery store. We have been using it exclusively for about 5 years. We love it and would not consider using anything else.

We are also big fans of coconut oil. We learned about it here on the Eden forums several years ago. It's all we use now.

Thank you for sharing this! I have been wondering about this too after reading about coconut oil as a lube from different posts in EF. I want to try this because I'm not really impressed with any of the store-bought lubes. Thanks!!!!

I'm not allergic, but I'm still wary to try it as a lubricant since it's comedogenic and I have sensitive skin. I spot-tested it on my arm and it broke me out really badly. I don't think it'll be a good time putting on my sensitive bits.

If you've only ever used hypoallergenic lubes before, testing coconut oil on a safe spot before applying it to your junk/toys could save you a lot of discomfort down the line.

Im glad you said something about this with allergies because Ive thought about trying this before and I would probably react badly to it. Ive had bad reactions to some makeups before but didn't know why.

Coconut oil is a wonderful option for anal play, IMO.

But I'm not so sure about its safety for the vagina. The point is that there is a common statement, which personally I believed too until recently, that coconut oil has a wrong pH for a vagina and can change the vaginal flora. Lately I found out that oils don't have a pH at all, and the fact the coconut oil may influence the vaginal flora has not been tested yet, and nobody knows for sure if it's true.

I guess, everything depends on individual specificities of our bodies. So before widely use it in your sex session, test it on a small area of sensitive skin, somewhere like the inner forearm. And, of course, use only high-quality coconut oil, keep it clean and fresh for the safe playtime

We have separate containers for the coconut oil that we use for anal play and vaginal play - obviously to avoid cross contamination - but lets face it - the proximity of one to the other makes perfect segregation nearly impossible.

My wife has not experienced any difficulty in the area of vaginal flora & fauna. Although there is the occasional UTI - that's always the result of an overly long sexual encounter - linked to not getting proper rest, i.e. suppressed immune system.

My advice is that if you have not used coconut oil before - start slowly and be especially attentive to hygiene (urinate immediately after)

If that goes well, expand your use as needed/desired

That's good advice to start slowly. I agree 100%

Funny thing. We also have separate containers for coconut oil. One for handjobs, another for anal play and another down it the kitchen for popcorn. We definitely wouldn't want to get them mixed up.

Oh, I thought, an overly long sexual encounter can lead only to an overly big amount of pleasure

Thank you for the advice! I will certainly use coconut oil with all safety precautions

I’ve also heard that olive oil is good for sex (anal and vaginal),
We have used coconut oil before for vaginal sex, I’ve used it anally and manually. I think it works wonders.
I have never tried olive oil yet, but do want to see how well it works

The two (coconut & olive oils) are not at all comparable - keep the olive oil for your salad

Coconut Oil was recommended to my wife and I by her gynocologist. We have found it to be a fantastic lubricant and use it exclusively at this point for vaginal sex. Clean up is easy and the oil is good for the skin, which is an added bonus. We have found, however, the Coconut Oil is not great for use with toys, unless the toys are made of glass.

Coconut oil is an excellent lubricant for natural, raw, intimacy. However, do be advise using coconut oil with a condom can cause them to break quite easily:/ Their material is basically incompatible. Be safe babes!

Yes, it definitely works as an anal lube! It's cheap and easily accessible, too. Plus if anyone happens to walk into your bedroom and see a jar of it, they'll probably only think you like to give each other massages (or maybe not. Depends on how dirty your houseguests' minds are). Though 52RainMakerOG25 is correct that you should be careful with condoms, and I personally prefer a water-based lube for vaginal use.
