Would you prefer that lingerie sold here on EF was photographed on models without implants?

Contributor: Petite Valentine Petite Valentine
This is not meant as a criticism towards anyone with implants — to each their own. However, I think the majority of female shoppers on EF do not have implants, but nearly all of the models in the pictures do. After reading and commenting on this thread I am curious how the community feels about the product photos.

Would you prefer that lingerie sold here on EF was photographed on models without implants?

Yes, implants give a false impression of the support of the lingerie/outfit.

No, and I think the question is offensive.

I personally prefer natural breasts and would like to see more pieces here modeled by women with them. I'm not going to discriminate against models with implants, though. But I really don't like the ones with the implants places so high on their chests. *shudder*

Even if an outfit looks good on a natural model, and I think it will therefore look good on me, it still may not look good on me so I do not think it matters.

I like all breasts! But I prefer real ones.

Natural models would be better. HOWEVER......these are models from the manufacturer's PR, not ones that EF chooses.

I would rather see at least two models for each lingerie product instead, and only one should have implants if either.

WISH? Hell, I pray everynight before bed that the freaking companies will show the average woman in the photos! Many times they are so air brushed as is the outfit, that it's truly a guessing game. You simply don't know what to expect. I wish that the companies didn't have such a twisted view on what women "should" look like. It's to the point to where we're lucky the people in the photos still have a belly button left after all that photoshopping! It angers me because I think every one looks beautiful how they are. No flaws at all is boring. A stretch mark here, a birth mark there, a dimple, maybe 20 dimples, that adds personality. That's a real human and I'd really appreciate it if lingerie companies would accept that!

My boobs don't look like that so it makes me question if it will look good on me.

I'm agreeing with Kendra. I love lingerie, but I would prefer to know what they looked like on a woman not a photoshopped version of a woman.

True, however if retailers were to indicate to companies that shoppers had a preference the companies would take note. I think the increase we're seeing in plus-size model pictures is a direct result of customer demand.

I think the best models would be the EF community along with their product feedback.

Playing Devil's advocate here...

I don't think companies have a twisted view on how women "should" look, I think they have a perfect view on what sells. These outfits aren't designed with the average woman in mind, they're designed with the average stripper in mind. A lot of these outfits are things you'd expect to find in gentlemen's clubs.

That being said, it doesn't make it right.

Which is why pictures are encouraged in reviews!

I think it has more to do with twenty years of people screaming at designers and major media campaigns. When Liv Tyler's sister became a plus-sized model (even though she's of average weight for her height), she really rocked the boat and people started noticing.

Yes, cause fake tits don't give me any idea what so ever on how or even if the piece is going to work for me.
From my experience, most pieces have only really been suitable to those who have fakes or are very firm still.

I don't think EF has a choice about it. The are given pictures that they use. As Stormy said, this is why we add pictures to reviews.

For me, I don't really care since EF does not have frilly knickers for giants.

I wish the pictures were of women with natural breast because when I see certain lingerie I just assume it just looks good on big women or women with breast implants because they have something to fill it out.

While I too would like to see more natural tata's, I must say it is better than a manikin. I remember when that was all you got.

Seeing the lingerie on women with more realistic looking bodies would be way more helpful than sticking a lady with fake breasts in it.

It would be nice if companies used more average models. I hate the editing that they do to the photos more than the models with fake boobs. They change the appearance of the clothes even. That should be false advertising!!!

I'd much rather see them on real breasts. I love that some companies like Coquette and DreamGirl usually photograph everything on both a straight and plus-sized model, (Even though DG seems to have a proclivity towards plus sized models with implants, too). Although few of us look exactly like either body shape, having the two to compare helps a lot when it comes to imagining what something will look like on our actual body.

Implants just aren't helpful for me. They tend to sit higher (and obviously perkier) than the average boob. Plus it makes the sizing off- a model that would normally wear a small will often instead be dressed in a large, which then gets all kinds of pinning done to it.

Stormy made a good point, though- a lot of the lingerie is mostly marketed towards strippers. When you consider how frequently the average woman buys lingerie (well, some of us from this site excluded ) and how often an exotic dancer needs to change up her wardrobe, you can imagine which brings in the more steady business.
