Would you buy lingerie from a thrift store?

Contributor: Pansies Pansies
I've always been a thrifty person, and recently I saw this french cut, pink, lace lingerie that I had to have at a local thrift store. Usually I have some qualms about buying things from an unknown source when the items are that intimate, but I made an exception. I'm curious as to how others feel about similar situations.

I'll buy certain items, but not others. If it has panties of any kind...I probably won't buy it. If I HAVE to have it, I might just wear my own underwear underneath until I've washed it a few times/forgotten where I bought it haha.

I buy nighties and babydolls from thrift stores. I won't buy panties or swimsuit bottoms, though.

If they still have the tags on I probably would, but I would be sure to wash it very well first.

I don't think I would trust it.

I've done it, but it's mostly been full slips or nighties. Nothing with bottoms are in my size, so the "bottoms" thing was never an issue for me.

No. Way. However thrifty one is, there are some things you just DON'T purchase second hand....At least in MY book, anyway. My hubby just LOVES tag sales and thrift stores. But, I have MY rules: NO second hand shoes (everyone's feet have a different shape. Unless the shoes have NEVER been worn, then ok. But, I personally do not want my feet fckd up by someone else's wear pattern). NO second hand bedding...of ANY KIND (bed bugs, anyone??)..and, of course, NO second hand panties, lingerie, etc.

So, I guess my opinion is obvious. No. Just....NO! Who KNOWS WHO has been wearing that outfit! Second-Hand lingerie should never be an option.

I wouldn't. I'm an odd shape for starters and I prefer my panties to be new.

I prefer to stay away from thrift stores. Bed bugs and other nasties are starting to become more prominent in certain areas of the US. You never know what's on that stuff. Even though you don't see bugs, there may be tiny eggs. Yeah, I know I'm paranoid. I don't care.

I wouldn't. It personally grosses me out a little because I don't know who wore it and even if I wash it a bunch of times just the thought turns me off. I also feel the same about old used shoes. Only brand new lingerie for me! When it comes to regular clothes though I don't mind.

If it wasn't underwear, then sure. It can be bleached and washed. I love the thrift stores.

If it is a top I don't have a problem with purchasing it, I don't do second hand undies or any type of bottoms. When I have bought things of said nature from Goodwill or something it is tied up in a plastic bag and right to the washer just as soon as I get home. I will not wear used shoes since the shoes form to your foot, plus I don't want someone else's foot funk.

Maybe if it was something really special like a vintage nightgown.

I picked other, because Hell-to-the-no wasn't an option. No thanks...just a little to personal for me. I believe that objects hold onto energy like people do...why did the lingere end up there in the first place, even of its new or appears new? Maybe I'm just weird...

I'd most likely never buy any underwear or wear the underwear that came with a set for any reason. If the piece was clean and in good condition, I'd consider it if it was cute or hard to find. If it still had tags on it and had never been worn, I'd most likely buy it.

This is a good question. I was actually thinking earlier today (or yesterday) that I wanted to go through my lingerie and get rid of some. I'm getting to the point where I have more lingerie than I do regular clothes. It's just getting scary. I was thinking about donating some to the thrift shop but wasn't sure if that was a good idea.

I agree with what others have said... I'd probably get something like a babydoll but not underwear- ever.

Unless it is brand new with tags, couldn't do it. Even then I would be kind of questionable.
