The problem with lingerie sets is...how many of us are actually the same size on top and bottom?

Contributor: Ms. N Ms. N
Personally, I am bigger in the chest than I am in the hips, so a bra/panty set (for example) does not work for me. If it fits up top, it is falling down below, and if it fits my bottom, my boobs are not going to be contained. I am sure it is the same for the majority of us. For me, it is a one size difference, but I know it can be more extreme for others.

The answer would be for Eden to sell more matching separates in a variety of sizes, rather than making everything a set.

So how about you? Are you bigger on top or on bottom? Do you avoid buying sets because of this? Would you prefer separates?

I avoid buying sets because I know the whole set will not work for me.

My problem is that the top usually fits but the bottom is too big. I order smalls and mediums only.

My hips are definitely larger than my bandsize dimension-wise, and even if they were the same, plus size bras that come in XL and 1X sizes instead of a band+cup size tend to be made for people with larger boobs than I have.

I'm bigger on the bottom than the top. Usually if I buy a set it's mostly just for the top because I know the bottoms will just be tossed aside. I have a bottom dresser drawer full of brand new panties and g-strings ect. because I don't like them or they don't fit me. Maybe I'll list them in the classifieds or something. I don't typically like to order sets unless it's something I really want. I usually have to mix and match a lot of my lingerie and make it work for me.

Do you ever buy the same set in two sizes just to have a complete set that works?

A lot of the lingerie sold here on EF is made and packaged by the manufacturer as a set. We need to let the manufacturers know, not the site that sells it.

I fit somewhere between a pear and a hourglass shape so shopping for sets is always a bit tricky. I have 38 D's, a small waist and pretty big hips so I usually have to shop to fit my hips and end up with a bra that's made for 40+ D and up. I wish more sets let you mix and match.

D: Bane of my existence.

I'm either a Small top - Large hips, or Medium top, XL hips. If the measurement chart even says I'm Small/Medium or Medium/Large instead of a two-size gap, I'll usually try it...

but it's so disheartening.

Yeah, I avoid sets. Big boobs and a fairly decent sized ass here but I feel like some sets wouldn't fit.

Same. I have a curvier hourglass shape but I still avoid sets.

Only if it's something I just have to have. I have a lot of lingerie sets that I've purchased over the years and I usually just mix and match things. Most of the things I get are black so everything goes together. lol. Sometimes I'll buy lingerie from hipsandcurves.com and throw in a pair of black panties sold seperately (from the same site) but when I get both pieces I put them together like it's a set and usually the g-string or whatever gets thrown in the closet. I should go through all my stuff sometime! If I ever get around to it I'll probably put it up in the classifieds because I have stuff that's brand new even though it's not in it's original packaging anymore. It's just sitting in my bottom dresser drawer.

I agree! I am bigger on top. I like to buy separates to get the correct size for both top and bottom.

I usually don't fit the top and bottom precisely that's why I avoid getting full sets. I'm bigger on top.

Even though when people look at me they think I could get away with the whole "set" thing. it never works. I wish you could get a perk of buying the two pieces in a price discount but that you could choose what works for you. There would be a lot less returning

I am bigger on top then I am on bottom so if I get a bra for the top the bottoms don't fit or if I get the bottoms to fit the top never does it sucks

I'm hourglass, but I avoid pieces/sets that are connected (like rompers) because I'm almost always too tall for them.

I'm bigger on top. I would prefer if some of the items came in separates but not have the price increase by much because of buying individual pieces.

I never know what to do, because even with tops (i.e. corsets/bustiers), I have a small waist and a large chest, so I never have any idea whether the cups will come anywhere near fitting or just look ridiculous.

My body is such a strange creature. Sometimes clothes fit fine, but then the same brand, same size, doesn't necessarily fit right the next time I go shopping. I don't get it. So I usually buy my pieces as seperates.

I prefer separates for the simple fact that some brands have sizes that run differently. Some treat me like I'm bigger on top and others on bottom. It's weird.

I can never buy sets that fit.... way bigger on the top then the bottom. I have a hard time even finding a top that will fit me on EF.

As a general rule, I avoid sets for their sizing. I understand the rationale behind sets, but I wish some were sold as separates with the ability to choose separate sizing for the tops and bottoms.
