I hand wash my lingerie. But I machine wash my daily bras and underwear on delicate.

Obviously hand-washing will "preserve" lingerie longer. Even in a net, the machine will still be more harsh than your hands.
However, when nearly every thing you own is "hand wash only" I don't see it being a huge "con" to go with a lingerie bag and a washing machine. I've been looking around for a "net." Because a lot of my dresses are handwash only and that's too hard to keep up with and I don't feel like it cleans them really well.

I just toss it in the washer an use the "gentle or delicate" cycle, I have a front load washer without an agitator so its less harsh then normal. So far no issues
