How forgiving are corset sizes?

Contributor: DiscretionAdvised DiscretionAdvised
When buying a corset for a special occasion (i.e. something you might not wear for very long) how forgiving are these bust sizes?

Say if I want to buy a corset that is sized at 32A or Small, but I'm a 36A (wide at the shoulders but thin), would you think it would accommodate me?

Jumping up a size usually bumps up the cup size, at which point I will be grossly unfulfilling.

When you're an A cup the smaller the size is usually the better because a regular small usually can handle up to b cup. It really depends on the sizing of the manufacture. Most corsets have a little stretch or adjustablity to them so I would definitely get a small.

Thanks for the input. That's what I was hoping!

It's too bad there isn't a way to see what a corset looks like on a smaller gal before ordering. Most of the models are well-endowed.
