Gift cards. Even I don't particularly like the person, I try to find out something they would be interested in rather than just blindly giving them crap. Sometimes, the person really appreciates the extra thought and your relationship becomes more positive.

I totally agree. Something useful is the way to go, if you don't want to put much time into a gift than gift card is the best way to go.
