Silicone can be fully sanitized and would only have remaining bacterial residue, whereas the jelly would have semi toxic chemicals built into it.
Would you rather purchase a brand new jelly dildo or would you prefer a slightly used 100% silicone dildo?

I would choose neither. But I would definitely avoid jelly at all cost.

And now we have much better materials, so many people strongly recommend their use. Think of all the other things that are so much safer now with modern materials than they were years ago.

There is a difference between santized (most things dead) and sterilized (everything dead). If a toy was used by an unknown person I'd only accept sterilized.

you can sterilize silicone so yay for silicone
04/18/2012
silicone can be sterilized, and jelly usually smells.

I'd rather use a new jelly dildo once than use a used toy. It just seems too skeevey to me.

Silicone can be sterilized, easy. Jelly cannot, and is essentially contaminated even if it's never been used.

I'd rather have my own new Silicone Dildo, but I would still pick it because it can be cleaned and a better material.

I'd take the silicone toy for several reasons.
1) Jelly smells disgusting
2) Jelly is horribly unsafe without use of a condom, which I hate to buy just for toys
3) Jelly can never be sterilized so even if you are the first person to use it, it stands risk of collecting harmful bacteria
4) I like the feel of silicone more than jelly
5) The silicone toy can just be sterilized so it's basically a new toy
Overall, I think jelly is just yicky! I used to own some jelly toys, but that was when I first started collecting and didn't know about different materials and such. Now, knowing what I know, I've thrown out all but 1 jelly toy which I saved for sentiment, and will never buy another.

Silicone can be sterilized and doesn't smell like a plastic shower curtain.

Silicone.

In real life, I'd have to say NEITHER! Don't like the idea of used toys, don't like jelly as a toy material.
If it's strictly theoretical, I'd vote for used silicone over new jelly. And I'd recommend cleaning it REALLY, REALLY well.

brad new jelly - i can put a condom on it for safety if I want to, but i would never get it out of my mind that the silicone is used.
Besides not all jelly toys stink and burn, i have a few that work real well and never had a problem with them!

Cat E.
Strange question.
12/03/2012
Silicone, no contest. I would sanitize it once or twice before use, of course. I'd be even better if I knew who it was coming from.
12/03/2012
Neither. I know you can sanitize silicone, but I'd rather have something that just I or my partner use. I don't know, it's a psychological thing.
12/03/2012
Silicone all the way
12/03/2012
I would not mind at all using a used silicone toy. I'd rather THEY sanitize it though, I don't like sanitizing someone else's toys, but I'd end up doing it anyway. Jelly is gross, though. It flops inside of you
12/03/2012
Silicone
12/03/2012
I've had a jelly toy and it was gross, and a few of my silicone toys are lightly used, sterilized, and no worse for the wear.
12/03/2012
I don't think I could do the "Slightly Used" thing

Slightly used silicone. Shove that sucker in some boiling water and it's good as new.
I'm so over jelly toys. They just deteriorate too fast.
