Toys and pregnancy?

I'm not pregnant but I was just curious to know how safe or even how comfortable it was to use toys during your pregnancy.

I've never been pregnant, but sex is safe, so why not a dildo? I would think that softer toys would feel especially nice when pregnant.
Any other responses? I'm curious to hear from pregnant/previously-pr egnant women on this!

Sex can "kickstart" labor in some cases, so as a woman progresses later into her pregnancy she should talk to the doctor. I promise, asking about using a dildo isn't going to bother any Ob/Gyn worth their salt.

That being said, in a normal pregnancy I would think that during the first and second trimester you could pretty much proceed as normal.

No difference for me, and I'm 32 weeks pregnant.

This but, I would still ask your OBGYN about it whether you are high risk or having a normal pregnancy. I would mainly be asking if using vibrators since the vibrations transfer through out the body in away. If you are using a non vibrating dildo and you are embarrassed to ask just go with the having sex question since a dildo is pretty much a penis not attached to a man.

I wouldn't try to set a record vaginally and would avoid anal due to bacterial spreading and causing complications. But toys should be safe. Just be smart about it.

As long as you don't have a high risk pregnancy, you can have sex safely throughout the entire pregnancy, and can use toys without concern. You will want to be extra careful about the toys being sterilized since you don't want to introduce bacteria (and get a bacterial/yeast infection). You also want to be very careful that you're not bumping your cervix, and I would avoid it once you've started to dilate.

Here's more information.

and more.

I masturbated all throughout my pregnancies, but only used a vibrator and some other toys during my last. Everything about my pregnancy was normal, and no amount of sex, orgasms, or toy use caused early labor (my daughter was 10 days overdue!). As long as you're being smart with the materials you're using, and you aren't going crazy with thrusting, etc. I don't see a reason why you would need to stop. If you're concerned about it, speaking with your doctor would be a great idea since they know your specific case, but as a general rule, if your pregnancy is healthy, enjoy!
