Steel? Glass? What're the differences?

What are the differences between Steel and Glass? Can you tell me some of your experiences between these two different materials? I've used glass before but I've never tried metal, but there is always a first time for everything :]

For the most part they feel the same, although stainless will feel more heavy. You will find more textures in glass than stainless. Stainless will hold temps longer but takes longer to reach said temperature. Lastly, nothing short of a welding torch will harm a stainless toy, dropping it will only break the surface it is dropped on, toes, tile, sink...Well you get the idea.

I would say if you like glass you will also like stainless toys as long as you are not a texture freak.

TTT has it right - if you gave us some additional information about what glass you have and what steel (or aluminum) you are looking at we could give you more help.

I love glass and steel equally, they're both cold and hard and heavy, but it's the shape that really matters.

I have both and like both of them a lot. However I'm always afraid of dropping the glass one on the floor and breaking it and like the weight of my stainless steel one more. So I would have to say for me I prefer my stainless steel one.

I would say the biggest thing is temperature conduction. glass is an insulator. Metal will conduct heat well. Both should be smooth and slick. Plus you can drop the metal one and not really worry abou it.
