For those of you that have this dildo, how long has it taken for the smell to go away?

I don't have that particular dildo, but I will tell you that what few rubber toys I've owned (because I really hate rubber) has always had a smell to them, even after a lot of cleaning. The Erotic Wave actually smelt like burnt tires, and nothing I did could get the smell out!

I don't have this dildo either by have something like it. We have had it about 6 months it has been washed several times and has been aired out for weeks at a time the smell is about the same as when we bought it. We just cover it with a condom when we use it, and use scented, or flavored lube with it. You can try liquid dish soap and airing it out to see if it helps that was suggested by another reviewer but didn't help in our case. The condom was also suggested by another reviewer and works very well, the flavored lube works good for oral. Enjoy!

Thanks. When I got it, the packaging said it's made from Sil-A-Gel, a PVC composite... it smells like, well, a PVC article of clothing multiplied by 1000. Or possibly 10,000...
Other than the smell it's a nice dildo.

Thanks for the suggestions. I generally have to stay away from scented/flavored things because I'm allergic to some of the ingredients, but it's something to look into!

I totally agree - silicone, silicone composites, wood, metal and elastomer toys are pretty much the only toys I really enjoy. I avoid rubber and jelly toys because they smell so bad and they also cause burning for me. If my toys smell or hurt, I can't enjoy them. If you look for toys that are phthalate free, the smell is usually quite a bit lessened.

Yeah I had a rubber dildo once before-- I don't recommend purchasing them. The damn thing stunk out the whole room, but it took about a few months for the smell to wear off.

It's gone now but it took a couple weeks to go away. At first it was way too strong!

I'm confused about this product. I just received it (the regular size, not the junior) today and it sorta has the rubber smell but it doesn't feel like rubber and on the package it says it's made out of sil-a-gel which is a PVC, not a rubber. It has sort of a velvety feel like real skin.

I got a DJ Crystal Jellies dildo last night and I know it's not the same material but it also has that sil-a-gel and dang does it smell!!! I read a few places to wash it in cold water not hot (I'm assuming the hot water would just release more smell) and to rub flavored lube on it after you wash it and let it sit...
