Some people may just be creeped out by them. I mean, wouldn't you be weirded out by a toy that looks like a dismembered hand? A dildo that actually looks like a penis (but isn't attached to a body) could be just as disturbing.
Just my take on things, though I have no issue with realistic toys.

I never really thought about it but I never use one that looks like a penis but I don't think I would be weirded by. it if I found one I liked

I actually prefer non-realistic ones, for the reasons (k)InkyIvy stated. A dismembered body part just seems odd to me.

I've been tempted by the VixSkin products, though.

We started out with non-realistic dildos, but gradually we went from fantasy colors with phallic features - to truly realistic designs. The bottom line is that the human sexual experience is based on the phallus - a woman's body is 'designed' or if you prefer evolved to be turned on by that specific shape. Likewise, our tastes have evolved to accept that reality.

I prefer realistic ones. I love the head on them.

I prefer realistic ones, too. Feels better than anything else.

Just my take ... more
Pretty much this. In any case, I think penises are not visually attractive, even when attached.

Realistic in size to the average man if that's what you mean.

My girlfriend prefers non-realistic since she has mine for realism

I like non-realistic cause it looks like a dismembered body part. Plus, I love the fantasy and textures of non-realistic toys.

What features do you like in realistic dildos that other kinds don't have?

For me, a dildo is ideally a penis substitute. I used to have sex with a guy, but since I met my wife, I've only had sex with her. The only thing I miss about having sex with a guy is the penis. I like toys that feel close the way a penis feels, and that looks close to the way a penis looks. I like to pretend it's really part of my wife's body. Only a realistic toy is suitable for that.
