What design do you prefer in a dildo? Realistic? Semi-realistic? Or non-realistic? Or is it depending on your mood?

Insightful topic debates on Realistic dildos:

Is expensive glass really better than inexpensive glass?
Question is pretty self explanatory. I mean, I can understand to a point, but I start seeing $200-300 glass toys and I really start to wonder....

Is bigger really better?
So who here thinks that bigger is really better?

Do you prefer realistic dildos? (advanced)
Teh robot.

Help! Need realskin suction cup dildo!
I had a simple task, to buy: - realistic looking dildo, that actually looks like the real thing - realskin, so it feels like a real thing - suction...

dildos vs. "THE REAL THING"
Hello, everyone I have seen a couple repeating comments where women like dildo/toys that have different girth/diameter then actual Penises? Most.

It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I am in the mood for a realistic dildo to satisfy my craving for variety while other times I really want a semi-realistic or non-realistic one. I have a pretty good balance of all three types to make sure that I have something to grab should my mood change mid session.

I really have no preference, not even being in 'the mood'. what I look for is something different than the last time I played.

I only buy non-realistic ones because I like texture.

Depends on my mood and what it's being used for. If I am using it as a prosthetic, then definitely, I would prefer a realistic. But if it is for manual use, then something less realistic is sometimes fun.

It really depends on my mood. If I devote the time to full fantasy, than I want realistic. If I can just get in a quicky, I go with less realistic because mine are glass and easier to clean than the realistic.

Do you consider Bad Dragon dildos to be realistic, even in a fantastical sense? They have plenty of texture.

OH my gosh, if you love texture. You should check out the new Bound by Tantus. It's a realistic dildo unlike any other. Lots of nice bulging veins and rope around the cock. It really looks like a real cock bound by rope and the texture is utterly amazing!!

I like the concept of Bound but its ropes look more like yarn than thick sturdy rope.

Gotta be real. Otherwise it takes away all the fun.

Many of my sexual fantasies involve more than one guy... (don't hate, you've thought about it too. ) ...sooo I usually like the realistic ones because I can play with a couple or a few at a time to make the whole experience more realistic without the...ahem...social and logistical issues involved in a real-life scenario.

Almost always realistic, it just feels better to me.

Non-Realistic!
I'm a little creeped out by the ultra-realistic toys. Unless it's being used as a prosthetic, then I guess realistic would be OK. But otherwise, the very realistic toys conjure up the idea of a dismembered body part, to me. I don't want a realistic vagina or anus as a masturbation sleeve either.
Form should follow function, it's a toy for goodness sake. The manufacturer should be creative even with the colors offered. Dv8 mentioned Bad Dragon, now they really are a creative bunch! As far as color, my preference is for colors starkly in contrast to any natural coloration of myself or my partner. Brilliant Red, Purple, Blue, even Carbon Black but any of the "human flesh colors" no thank you.

For my wife and I it's about how it feels - not how it looks. We love the Champ & Champlette for their tapered design - not their semi-realistic design. However we have learned that dildos with a human-like coronal ridge feel the best for both vaginal and anal play. After all, a million years of evolution has programmed us to recognize that shape.

Our next venture is going to be with Bad Dragon toys - mostly based on animal shapes - kind of creepy to think about, but we're going to see how they perform before passing judgement.

We have all types in our stash. On any given session will use at least 4 different ones. And just got a Vixenskin to add to the mix. Bad Dragon... will have to research some more on them.... so expensive too bad EF didn't carry any. A buyout for assignment would be so nice.

It does really depend on my mood. Sometimes you want something that feels exactly like the real thing and sometimes I want something that's ribbed or bumpy

Semi-realistic, which to me means a realistic dildo with a suction cup. LOL hope that counts.

With a collection that I now have, I could say it definitely depends on the mood. Sometimes you want to focus on sensations, other times you need more visual stimulation, sometimes you require special features - as Sugarfina here said, suction cups and funny colors could bring a lot to the table in certain situations.
