It's too big :(

Contributor: Coralbell Coralbell
I have a dildo that's 5" in circumference, and it goes in no problem and doesn't feel like I'm at my limit. I wanted to try something a little bigger so I got one that is 5 1/2" around, and I can't fit it inside me at all. I tried using lots of lube but it didn't help. I'm hoping it wasn't a total waste of money and that I might be able to use it eventually.

Does anyone have tips on how to take a bigger toy? Have you had something that was too big at first but managed to work your way up to it?

I've found that if you start with smaller toys and work your way to the larger ones it does get easier - and your arousal level has to be really high. If you get all wrapped up in trying to drive something huge inside - you may get distracted and have the opposite effect of causing yourself to tense up.

Relax and try a few more times - but it simply may be too large. There's no prize for taking in a huge toy. My lady can explode from relatively modest size toys in various combinations. Blended g-spot clit orgasms are her faves. Although my wife doesn't go for it - many find the full feeling of double penetration preferable to having their vagina stretched beyond their limit.

Good luck!

It might also be the material. I find some dildos of the same size but different texture are easier to insert than others. Which dildo did you get?

As Gunsmoke said, you might have to start out with your 5 inch toy and then once you get warmed up switch over to the larger one and give it a try. Don't try to force it. Also I find that with larger toys, a little lube will make things go a little more smoothly.

That's what I did, used the 5 incher first then tried the bigger one, and it seemed SO much bigger. I think once I felt the initial pain I did tense up, so I'm sure that didn't help. It seems like I'm just tight at the opening and there would be room inside if I could get that little bit of skin to stretch or relax.

On a ruler 1/2 an inch doesn't seem like alot but in such a small space it is alot. You sound like you really want to be able to use this toy. Just keep trying... if you arn't comfortable go back to your smaller toy.

Well I usually clench my muscles around a toy to give it a tighter feeling, so I was hoping with something bigger I could get that feeling without the effort. I'll try again when I have lots of time and patience.

It could be the shape and gradual insertion shape that one doesn't have?

They actually both have rounded ends, not gradual.

I have taken several big toys, bigger than 5 1/2" around. Lots of lube is key, as is going slow and being patient. Starting with a smaller sized toy and then working your way up helps a lot. I'd suggest find a big toy that has a head smaller than it's overall circumference and slowly work it in, allowing your muscles to adjust and accommodate the increase in size.

I hope this helps, Coralbell.

I know the frustration. I can take 5" but not 5.5". Try getting a 5.25" dildo (I suggest the Leo or the Vamp, because they're both so awesome), and then working your way up. A half inch is a lot to add.

Thanks for the suggestions. The Vamp says it's 5" though?

It also depends on how excited you are before you try to penetrate with the toy. I like large toys, but it is always easier to take them, and I don't even need lube, when My Man is "driving" because I get turned on so much more easily and quickly when he's involved.

When I'm by myself, I take my time, I use a small bullet vibe on my clit for "warm up" and don't even think about penetration with a large toy for at least 10 to 30 minutes, and even then I usually use lube. It just takes longer on my own. I also often will read some good erotica or watch a quick scene from a video, to get in all the way in the mood.

Don't "force" it, you don't want to hurt yourself. You may need as much as a half an hour of preparation, if you are by yourself, to take a larger toy.

If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Nobody is keeping score!

I also got a toy once that was very uncomfortable the few times a tried it. I put it away for a few months and when I tried it again it was wonderful. Maybe if you give yourself some time you will enjoy it.

I agree with Kristi. Try and find a toy that is thicker, but has a smaller head. There is a cone that is sold online for stretching to take bigger toys. Also, some of the inflatable toys would work good for stretching your opening. Which brings me to the point, you are right, it is your opening that is the limiting factor. Deeper past your opening the walls of your vagina will easily give way to huge girths.

I also agree with what the others have said regarding their advice to use the smaller toy first. Get to the point where you can thrust it in and out vigorously. After a while, try to slip a finger in beside that toy. If that is easy for you, then try to slip a second finger in beside that toy.

Regarding stretching to increase the flexibility of your opening (it is flexibility that will be increased, and the vagina will not become loose, just more flexible), regardless of the object you choose I have some advice that will apply to all of them.

Stretch to the point of discomfort. Go till very light pain that is easily bearable. Pause right there. Don't move the toy. Now contract and release your opening. Focus on relaxing further and further each time. Visualize your vagina opening up wider to larger toys. Also, breathe deeply and move very slowly.

I'd suggest straddling a toy with your knees holding you up. Lower yourself onto the thick toy. Use lots of lube. Go very slow, and pause when you reach the point of discomfort/light pain. Contract and relax 3 to 5 times. Now lift yourself off of the toy slightly till the discomfort lessens. Pause for a minute, breathe, and focus on relaxing your vagina. Now lower yourself back down again slowly. Each time go to the point of mild discomfort, pause and start contracting and relaxing your opening, then back off again. You may want to attempt taking the thickest part all the way in past your opening during this session. It's up to you. You can also attempt it days later after doing more lowering, contracting/relaxing, then raising back up.

If you do this with toys that are each just slightly thicker than the previous ones, your vagina will become flexible enough to take in huge thick girths. You will also have fantastic muscle control and muscle tone. Develop your vaginal skills

And keep in mind that 1/2" of diameter is not really what you're doing. Your vagina (or anus, or mouth, or whatever) is stretching another 1.5" to get around the added circumference of the toy.
