Heating my first glass toy

Contributor: sweetpea12 sweetpea12
I just got my first glass dildo!! I am so excited!! But I want to start doing temperature play, and I don't know how hot to get my toy. How hot would you guys recommend? I was thinking about putting it in really hot water for like twenty seconds, letting it cool for a little while and then using it. Is that way too much? What do you think?

Insightful breakdown of Glass dildo:

Glass dildo as a kegel exerciser
I recently bought my first glass dildo. And I really want to start using it as a kegel exerciser. I know I can't walk around with it or anything, but.

Glass Dildo Shaped like the Pure Wand?
Has anyone come across a glass dildo that is shaped like the Pure Wand? I'm just curious if there are any out there and if anyone has tried them both...

Since glass is non porous, is a glass toy safe for vaginal use if it has been washed with anti-bacterial soap after anal use? Or does it need to be...

I just hold it under running hot water until it feels warm enough.

I just fill a plastic bowl with warm water (slightly warmer than what you are comfortable with). Put the toy in the bowl until the water is COMFORTABLE, then it's ready to go.

Yep, I do exactly what Gracie and Elnoa mentioned. Anything you're using to penetrate will feel warmer or colder than it does in your hands, or on your arm, for example. So just a slight difference in temperature really is usually enough to enjoy the sensation and not risk hurting yourself.

Enjoy your temperature play! Gotta love those warm glass toys!

If it's a large dildo you will have to soak it for a while in the water, otherwise the outside will get warm while the inside is still cool. When you go to put it in the dildo will cool off as the temperature equalizes.

I've also put them in bowls of water in the microwave for a little - this saves water, especially for big dildos/plugs. Be sure to test first, as (a) they can get very hot if you're not careful (it should be comfortable against the inside of your wrist or mouth) and (b) they can be unevenly heated (to fix this stir the water and let the toy sit for a while).

I'd say start with it less warm than you think it needs to be. Toys always feel warmer or colder once inside, so you don't want it to be too hot. If it ends up not being warm enough, take it out and heat it a little more. Once it's good, you know what to do for next time. Each toy is a learning process!
