I'm wondering how much the reviews of a product affect your decisions. Have you ever bought a toy you wouldn't have otherwise because of a review?
Has a review ever made you buy a toy?

For me, it was the Hitachi. The thing is as ugly as sin, but the community love for it made me give it a whirl.

Lots of them!

Kindred's VIP super soft/goodfella comparison and Sam's Sliquid Splash reviews come to mind first.
And as a side note, why in the hell am I awake at 3:26 in the freakin' morning?

Pretty much every toy I buy is because of a great review (or reviews). It was the only reason I bought the Eroscillator, and I am so glad I did!

MANY times! Thank God for reviews!
09/06/2011
Yeah, I base a lot my purchases on reviews. If something looks cool (and fun) but has crappy reviews, then I'm out. But on the other hand, if something has really good reviews and people just LOVE it, I'm definitely more apt to try it, especially if it's something that I wasn't sure about.

I base my purchases on reviews as well. Though, some products do have lower rating reviews and I'll still try them to form my own opinion... but I have made purchases based on reviews (or decided not to purchase based on reviews as well)
09/06/2011
Absolutely! I didn't realize how valuable our reviews are until I read an awesome review and couldn't live without a pair of damn stockings... yes stockings. There have also been a few items I was unsure about but then I read the reviews and was sold!

Yes. I have decided to buy a toy because of a really good review of it.

When I want a toy, I add it to my wish list and I start checking out the reviews. I look at the two top most helpful, and the two top most critical reviews. If I am not convinced yes/no by that time, I'll keep looking at reviews until I'm sure. So yes, reviews are everything! It's important to have reviews here on Eden because that's how people know if a toy is really "all that" or not.

I do the exact same thing! lol The review program is a lifesaver for me. You can even learn which reviewers tend to have similar taste in toys as you, and then go through their reviews to find a toy you'll probably like.

Yup, reviews have played a huge part in my choices. It's beyond helpful to get some personal perspective on a toy, rather than just have to rely on toy company marketing that claims basically every toy ever is the best and most mind-blowing.
09/06/2011
Definitely. I don't want to buy something just because it is pretty or has some features I want without knowing whether or not it is worthwhile performance wise. If there are consistently poor reviews on something I won't waste my time and if an item has great reviews I'll put it in my cart.

I had wanted to try a glass toy, and the reviews of the Gold Laced G definitely influenced me to choose that toy.
09/06/2011
Absolutely! There have been a couple of things I've purchased because of reading one review (I'll usually read more, to make sure there is nothing missed.)

I always read reviews prior to purchase--especially DVD's--I am sure it has saved me alot of $$$$. If I am buying something from a company I am familiar with a review has less effect on my decisisons.

Yup. That's pretty much how I do it, too. Except I also look for reviews by people I know from the forums and such and read their reviews.

A good handfull of reviews have turned me on to toys I never would have paid any attention otherwise. P'Gell's review of Sliquid Ride jumps to my mind... I also chose Lone Star instead of Johnny VixSkin thanks to a review by Waterfall. I literally had Johnny in my cart, and then read Waterfall's review and switched. I'm really happy with the decision.
Spicy Sunday's review of the SaSi convinced me to buy that, but I actually wish I hadn't bought it.
Aaaand, there have been products that piqued my interest initially, like the We-Vibe and the Gigi, and the reviews convinced me that they probably wouldn't be good fits for me. Dwtim's review also steered me away from the B-Bomb.

I bought some silicone kegel balls solely because of reviews. Several women claimed they actually climaxed wearing them.
I didn't.
I didn't.
09/06/2011
Yes, Yes, guite a few times. I've had reviews also make me NOT want to try something, and I later on did, and wished I would have NEVER listened to the review. I've had good review make me fall in love with the toy. When I tried it, I ended up hating it. It really just depends lol hahaha
09/06/2011
I have also not bought a toy solely based on a review...
09/06/2011
I usually pick a toy by its appearance and material, then I'll read relevant reviews to see its performance.
09/06/2011
I have definitely bought a toy just because of a review!
09/06/2011
Pretty often!
09/07/2011
Just about all my toy decisions are made because of reviews
09/07/2011
No not at this stage
09/10/2011
I've read reviews that have made me NOT want to buy a toy. Gotta buy smart.
09/10/2011
If it weren't for the reviews, I wouldn't have bought so many toys.
