I have two glass dildos. Glass is a 10 on the safety skill and easy to clean. The only thing you have to watch out for is how hard and fast your thrust it. I've over tenderized my insides once.
But other than that, glass is quite safe. Textured glass can feel amazing. Not to mention being able to temperature play.

It depends on what you mean by "safe," and "regular"...

If by "regular dildo" you mean jelly or rubber, glass is much safer.
Now, if your favorite way to use a dildo is fierce, intense thrusting, glass may be "unsafe" in the sense that you may bruise yourself and feel sore the next day! Go with silicone if this describes you.
If you mean, is glass toxic? No! Does it contain pthlalates and other nasty chemicals, like cheap dildos do? No! Does it tend to give its users allergic reactions, like jelly? No!
My favorite super-safe hypo-allergenic materials for sex toys are silicone and glass.

Glass is one of my favorite materials. For hygiene it's definitely the best. And the glass that glass toys are made of doesn't break easily.

Glass has upsides and downsides. It's rigid, so it can bruise if used roughly, but it can also be sterilized. I have dropped my glass toys on tile and have yet to break one. i don't recommend that, but they are sturdy.

The only real safety issue comes if it has any scratch or cracks. Scratches can cause micro abrasion they may not be seen or felt, this problem doubles if the toy is used anally. Of course cracks can lead to breakage during use.
Just check the toy before use each time.
It would be pretty damn hard to break Borosilicate glass during normal use, maybe if you fell on it while it was inserted. lol
Aside from that it has the same non-porous properties as stainless and silicone so it is 100% hypoallergenic and can be fully sanitized.

I agree with everyone else, I love glass, one my top favorite materials because of its safety rating and like it as a good warm up toy because you can do temperature play with it. The low maintenance feature is an added plus. I have the Twisted Pleasure and love it particularly because of its weaved pattern and texture.
I see it was already mentioned about watching for cracks during normal wear and tear but I always thoroughly examine and feel each new glass toy I purchase first thing for such so I can return it right away if it needs to be.

Thanks for the info on scratches. Glass is sure pretty, and I love how the material is inert! High on my wish list.

If you're asking whether it will break - no, it won't. Glass toys are made of Pyrex or a similarly sturdy type of glass.

from all of the reviews I've read, it is. I'm still a bit reluctant putting it inside me when it decides it wants to spontaneously break. don't know if that can really happen, though.

Glass is definitely safe.

Highest safety rating, along with pure silicone.
