Comparison - Vixskin Bandit vs. Downunder Hot Rod

Contributor: 3d3n1 3d3n1
A member here at Eden must have seen from my posts that I own both the Bandit and Hot Rod, and she sent me a message asking for a comparison of the two.

I figured I'd share than comparison for others here as well, just in case someone was considering both.

Both are nice toys. Hot Rod is thicker and more textured. Bandit is longer, but slimmer and smoother overall, aside from the head ridge.

Both are dual density, but the outer Vixskin layer of Bandit is a good bit softer/squishier. Hot Rod has a softer outer layer compared to it's inner core, but the outer layer is firmer and not as squishy as Viskin.

Aside from the head ridge, which is made of the very soft Vixskin so it's not unpleasant in any way, the rest of Bandit is pretty smooth. There is some mild vein texture, but the material is so soft it's not really noticeable.

The Hot Rod, which does not have a pronounced heard ridge at all, still has much more texture due to the veins/ridges all along the shaft, which are composed of firmer material than Vixskin, so they're able to actually be felt.

I took some measurements using a tailor's tape.

Hot Rod
Insertable Length: about 6-1/2"
Girth at head: 5-3/8"
Girth mid-shaft: 5-1/2"
Girth at base: 6"

Bandit
Insertable Length: about 7-1/2"
Girth at head: 5"
Girth mid-shaft: 5-1/4"
Girth at base: 5-3/8"

Constructive discussions on Vixskin Dildo:

So, about Johnny Vixskin
Is this an uncircumcised dildo model? I just ordered it and was looking at it a bit closer, the ridge would be the foreskin pulled back, right?

Vixskin Nexus?
I'd love a nexus dildo made out of vixskin, any plans to introduce this product?

Vixskin Vs Tantus O2
Just wondering which of these two dual core product lines EF users prefer

Vixskin Outlaw dildo too big for my girlfriend or no? Girls thoughts?
Hey,

I'm a boyfriend that loves seeing my girlfriend pleasured, and I just ordered the Outlaw dildo (without her knowing of course) for a Christmas

Vixskin??? (I have been MIA)
I haven't been on in quite a long time due to the end of my college semester and finals...I just came on to purchase a vixskin and they are...

When you reply to a post, there is that pink i with a circle around it at the upper right corner of the text box. It gives you the code so that you can link the pictures, which have to be already uploaded online (think about Photobucket).

All you have to do is replace the link in the middle.

Wow, how thorough of you, and awesome for sharing! I didn't know the Hot Rod was dual density, actually.

From Downunder Toys' website:
"Today's connoisseur of pleasure chooses the all new sensa-feel silicone Hot Rod with revolutionary twin-core construction. Why? Because no other toy feels better, and the Hot Rod outlasts all those realistic dongs that melt in your toybox . Experience amazingly natural sensation thanks to a rock hard silicone core enveloped in a cushy silicone outer 'skin.'

It is dual density, but because the outer layer is not super squishy like Viskin, and the inner core is not as firm as the core in the Tantus O2 products... the difference between the two layers isn't as noticeable as with the Vixskin and O2 toys.

Still, I'd take the Hot Rod over the O2 simply because the inner core is more flexible and not so da^m stiff.

Personally, I like Vixskin best, but for those that like some texture, the less squishy Hot Rod might be the better choice. My girlfriend loves the "ripples" of Hot Rod. She likes Bandit too, but sometimes complains it's a little too smooth.

So I thought I'd resurrect this thread...

I purchased a second Bandit, this time in vanilla, since some less than ideal storage of the other has led to a few minor tears in the outer layer.

I wanted to take a moment to comment on a few differences I noticed.

The new, vanilla Bandit is:
1) shorter by a little more than 0.25" insertable, and closer to 0.5" overall since the base is a little thinner.

2) thicker - it's roughly the same at the head, but 3/16" thicker at the same points (mid-shaft, base of shaft) I measured in the caramel Bandit pictured above.

3) firmer - less floppy overall, and the outer layer is noticeably firmer. Don't get me wrong, it's still soft, but the caramel Bandit has an extremely soft outer layer. The outer layer of the vanilla Bandit is even a little less squishy than the Johnny I have.

So, since the caramel Bandit is about 2+ years old, here are updated measurements for the vanilla Bandit:

Insertable Length: about 7-1/4"
Girth at head: 5"
Girth mid-shaft: 5-7/16"
Girth at base: 5-9/16"

Very interesting, thanks for updating! I wonder if the differences in firmness between the two Bandits are the result of product updating or variability between batches
