Beginner Dildo: Suggestions needed!

Contributor: QueenBee8 QueenBee8
A friend of mine is a virgin but wants to use a dildo for solo play. I told her that some of the Icicles glass dildos look sleek and easy to use. She said they look a little intimidating (especially the ones with the bulbs). Does anybody have any suggestions as to what might be an appropriate choice for her?

Vib for a beginner
I am looking for a vib for a friend. She is a beginner any suggestions?

Beginners
How did you get started? My boyfriend and I like spanking and things like that and are ready to move foreward a little. Any suggestions?

Is this too big for a beginner?
As someone who's new to anal play, is this too big of a first toy? Should I start with butt plugs instead?

A good beginner idea..
We like to hold the other person's throat, not squeezing, just holding, it can be very erotic, light play.

Suggestions for good beginner toys

Have you browsed the site with her? You can use the browsing options to narrow down a size range she'd be comfortable with, and sort by price if budget's an issue. At any rate, I'd recommend something silicone, since it's a lightweight material and very easy to take care of.

My personal recommendations are the Silk Medium, or the Small if she's really nervous. The Ella is another good choice, especially if she could use a little help finding her G-spot. All are very high-quality toys from dependable companies, and cost $40 or less.

Actually the Icicles No 8 is really sleek and slender. That one is a good beginner dildo. However, if she is a virgin then she has never experience vaginal penetration(?), so she should start with a forgivable material. I would go with a Silicone dildo. Like Rin has suggested Silk small or medium are good options.

I would think Ella or 02 Mark. For me vibrators were less intimidating at first. I can't quite put my finger on why, but you might look at fun factory mini vibe spring link. It's not too big but it feels good vaginaly or as a clt vibe. Plus it's rechargable. Then there is one of my favorites Mimi. I think Mimi and Ella are a perfect starter set and could keep a beginner content for a long time!

Also: it's a good idea to suggest some lubes while you're at it. It can be a huge help, especially with materials like silicone which can sometimes have quite a lot of drag (the Minivibe Spring that Gracie suggested seems like a nice choice and I love Fun Factory as a company, but their silicone is probably the draggiest I've ever come across, so lube is a must). Show her some glycerin- and paraben-free lubes (Sliquid's a good brand, for example) for optimum health, especially if she's prone to yeast infections.
