I've always considered pyrex toys some of the safest around but after this article by Carnal Nation's Domina Doll (link) I've been beginning to question them. Even though glass toy breaks are supposed to be rare, I wonder if rare is good enough.
In the microbiology lab (and even more so in the organic chemistry lab) we chuck out a lot of broken pyrex. This stuff isn't supposed to break unless we really abuse it, but sometimes even brand-new pieces will break even if they showed no visible sign of stress. Now whenever a pyrex piece in the lab breaks, I can't help but wonder what it would feel like if it was my glass toy.
Do you think they're still safe even if they could break?
Are there ways of making them safer?
If they're not safe but you love your toy, will you still use it?
