Now, I really want to get into an anal toy but these curved metal beads make me nervous.

Is there a way for me to poke something wrong and injure myself internally with these toys?

Any tips for preventing this from happening?

Any toy can present a problem if used forcefully in the wrong way. Keep in mind that a steel do doesn't bend or flex at all. That's not meant to scare you, but it means that even more care needs to be given when using a steel toy.

Be gentle and listen to your body. Let your body accept the toy if it wants it rather than forcing it. You should approach it with cautious excitement, not paranoia and fear if you want to relax. You can never overdo it with lube when using a new toy. Might seem annoyingly messy, but it's worth it to have an enjoyable experience, instead of a painful one

With the rounded balls and lack of pointy areas this is actually a very comfortable, and highly unlikely to cause harm, toy. However, like others have said, ANY toy can cause harm if you aren't slow and careful especially in the beginning of the play session before you are really warmed up. The anal sphincters really have a mind of their own and some need a whole bunch of persuasion while others are raring to go from the beginning. Learn where you fall in the spectrum, grab some good quality lube and use plenty of it.

I would also suggest playing with the toy orally and vaginally at first so that you can see that it doesn't have sharp edges that could poke and tear sensitive anal tissues. It's completely non-porous so as long as you begin the session with oral/vaginal play and then move to anal there's no chance you'll cross contaminate! If you are REALLY worried you could try slipping a thin but large sized condom over the side you are playing with until you have a bit more confidence with the toy.

Before playing with any stiff toys have everybody concerned (you and your partner) use a finger to probe as far as you can inside you (and/or your partner, depending on who is receiving). One of the bigger problems with stiff things in the rectum is people not being aware of how the rectum lies in the pelvis, and pressing hard in the wrong playce can cause problems. Do remember that the problems are usually with small hard objects, but press hard enough and/or for long enough and a big, rounded object can cause injury (brusing is also a possibility and is not fun).

Play slow and gentle until both of you know exactly how things are laid out and whoever is taking the toy is warmed up.
