I'm kind of skeptical - should I get this?

Do you mean you're skeptical of the toy kit you posted or anal play in general?
If it's anal play, start with some lube and a finger or two. If you like that, buy a toy or two and go from there. It's not for everyone.
If it's the toy kit, I can't say since I haven't used it.

I'm going to agree with Bill220.
If it's just anal stimulation you're not sure about, try inserting a couple lubed up fingers while doing something else you know you like.
If you're not sure of the kit, I think it looks nice, but I'd personally be worried that because there isn't a skinny part right before the bases, they wouldn't stay in well and would slip out. I'd suggest plugs that would stay in better, like the ones with rings on the ends instead of flat bases.

these look good for a beginner. the smallest is 3/4" diameter just a little larger than a finger

I personally would try to find a different kit that is made of silicone but the others gave great advice for the anal play

Agreed! If you don't want to worry about porous materials and nasty bacterias...always get silicone, glass, or metal.

I had never heard of Wendy Williams before now. Yikes!
At any rate, like others have suggested, I would recommend a silicone, glass, or metal plug. Avoid PVC if you can.

I hate the material choice for this product as well. I don't want to be bothered having to go fetch a condom each time I use it.

The material isn't the greatest.
