Steel is awesome for experimenting with anal and with the Fun Wand you can ease yourself into it with the little beads...or use the slightly larger end. And the nice thing about stainless steel is that you can sterilize it!

I've used all the Njoy toys...and I LOVE the Fun Wand! I'd even run into a burning building to save mine.

If you are -just- beginning anal, I think this toy might be a little much for you. The balls are a little on the larger/experienced side, and it's definately very rigid!
I'd recommend something along the lines of the buddy to begin with - it's silicone, which means it warms quickly to body temperature and is a snap to clean (just boil it or wipe it down with soap and water), and it has an ergonomic shape and unintimidating size.
Whatever you do, remember to use lots of lube! Only water-based should be used with the buddy though, because it's made of silicone.

This is an excellent toy! And all the Njoy toys are awesome - you will have them forever and pass them down to your grandchildren ))

I don't think this one would be one to start out with, considering the price and your indecision. I think this toy goes a little past the experimentation phase of anal play.

I also agree with this one as a good starting toy, mainly because it is metal. Glass and metal toys will be most smooth and cause the least friction, which means more pleasure.
The only problem with starting out with glass or metal, other toys you try later on wont even compare since your standards have been set so high. =]
Here are the specs for that one (found over at njoytoys.com):

I think .75 - 1 inch is a good starting size, plus the neck is smaller, so it really should cause any pain if you go slowly and are relaxed.

I actually just bought my first anal toy what.... like 8 days ago? So i am still really new at this too! I don;t know though. Something like that would probably scare me off. Not only does it look rather large, but the almost $90 price-tag scares me even more. Maybe its just me but since it was a "I wonder what that would be like" sort of mood I wasn't out for having to ask for a loan from the bank Maybe I am just nice and cheap! I went the old start out simple (and cheap) and if you like it, shoot for metal and glass toys

I would agree that .75-1 inch is a good starting size. Not too big to be uncomfortable, and it should introduce you to the sensation.

The fun wand would be a great choice for starting out! It's small too! It may look big or you may think it's big from the product picture and the fact that it's metal but I can assure you this is no monster! The dildo end with a single ball at the tip, is really no bigger than a normal sized bouncy ball. That is also the biggest bead size on the anal end. The anal end starts out really small like maybe just a bit larger than a marble. The middle anal bead is about the size of a white grape.....yep, I compared! It really is a good size for someone new to the anal world. It's actually the one I started out with myself. Just remember that you really can't wear it around because it is double ended and it is small so some people advance from it pretty quickly. I really wish there was a view actual size image option for this one because it's size is actually small. I had expected something bigger when I ordered mine and was a bit relieved and totally un-intimidated when it arrived! I hope this helps and let us know how everything turns out!

For a beginner it's much easier to start out with something that has a gradual taper, though. A ball at the end means that you need to have your anus pretty relaxed to start off, which can be difficult for a beginner even if you do play with fingers first. I'd recommend starting with something about 1" in diameter with a taper that's pretty smooth. You can always move up from there.
Metal, glass, and silicone are the best materials for anal toys, though (some plastics are OK as well).

I agree with DavyB. I think this is toy is a good way to experiment with anal and for the same reasons already mentioned. Anything that starts out small and gradually allows you to increase the size is excellent, and definitely things that can be sterilized (steel or silicone products, for example). You'll probably grow out of this toy eventually if you're only using it for anal, so keep that in mind.

I agree with the material.
My favorites are: Glass, Metal, Ceramic, Plastic, Acrylic, Marble, and Granite
Anything hard and smooth is great for anal!

...Once you understand how the anus and rectum are laid out. I wouldn't encourage someone to start with something hard, though, since it can get uncomfortable if it jabs against the wall of the rectum.

I personally turn to silicone often, though, since the softness makes it much easier to loose yourself in the stimulation without worrying. Hard is nice too, though - that's why a largish toy collection is nice.

I mean that is how I started - With a toothbrush handle that was plastic, but I was just always careful.
I just personally don't find soft objects pleasurable at all in the butt, because of the friction... even with tons of lube.
Seems to always burn too much to feel pleasure out of it. Silicone isn't nearly as bad as jelly or rubber, but for some reason, feeling softness on my sphincter makes me feel like I HAVE to expel it.
Something even as small as that Ryder plug seems to feel very abnormal. I really wish Tantus made a glass or metal version of it, because that would be an amazing plug indeed (especially from the slim base) I emailed them about it, but they said they didn’t have any plans to do so.

Both wands are cool for anal/prostate stimulation. The three beads make it really easy position to hit the prostate and when used in an gentle motion against the other areas or your inner butt it can be very pleasant to very intense. The big end can sometimes be a little bit poky at times but it can also be very intense and different from the other beads.
Cautions!!!: lots of lube, more then you think until you are experienced, applied with a with a lube shooter to put the lube inside, clean yourself out before hand, and there is a nice how to video by Nina Hartley on how to do it. Sorry, I did a quick Google search and the quick was my unwillingness to wade through the links beyond the first few to find the it. Again - sorry, but you should try and find it, it has a wealth of good info. Check her facebook page.
Last Caution!: It is not like a wank where you might be tempted to bear down, get a big push and over the waterfall you go. Stay gentle and everything should be very pleasant. Give yourself time to get use to it, find what works and what doesn't and it could be really really really good.

I would definitely start with something that's just a little softer!

We didn't really care for the Fun Wand - but we love the Pure Wand. Starting with the small end is very easy - the larger end is great fun after you warm up to it.
