I agree 100%, Scott.
Also, petroleum jelly is very waterproof, but not in a good way. It can trigger yeast infections and UTIs (I know this is anal, but the lube often gets moved around and can end up near the opening of the vagina or the urethra.)
Doctors have been saying for years no Vaseline for female products or for babies behinds, because it not only can "seal in" bacteria and fungus, but it breaks down a lot of different materials, as Scott said. It's been on condom packages for years as a "do not use" product.
I agree with Scott, also, that anything that numbs isn't a good idea in an anal (or any kind) lube. Pain means "Stop" and the body won't learn to relax if it's numbed up. Numbing cremes also numb the pleasure of anal love, so it's probably not the best product to use. My fear is one could get hurt and not realize it until later. Pain during anal sex means, Slow down and change your course. Not "keep ramming and grit your teeth."
Astroglide Anal Shooters lube is nearly as thick as Vaseline, doesn't block skin pores, stays where you want it and lasts long. I love this stuff. (For anal, though, not for vaginal lubricant. For that I use Astroglide Green Cap, with no glycerin.)
I am glad you and your wife are exploring anal love, trios, but petroleum jelly isn't the best lube to use, Edens has dozens of great lubes to try.
