#AskEden - What Do I Need For A Upgrade to Advance Reviewer Request?

Contributor: Kitten has left the site Kitten has left the site
I've only reviewed about 5 items, and I have two more left. I don't consider myself the best because I know I'm not, but I believe I write fairly decent reviews.

I was wondering, because I would like to submit a request to upgrade, what exactly do I need in order to upgrade to Advance Reviewer? Any help would be appreciated!

The best way is to find a mentor and enter into the mentor program. They teach you how to write better reviews and as another wonderful Eden perk, you can request free items to review. I just graduated and I can tell you that it was a fun way to become an advanced reviewer.

Good answer!

Also, if you've submitted two reviews already, you can request an updated by going here.

I thought you could only request free items to review if you are already an advanced review, i.e. you had graduated a class already. Or, can you start for just being in a class and obtain free items to review? That seems a bit odd in my opinion.

If you're a student in a Mentor program, you're eligible to review a product <$30 with less than three reviews on it, even if you're an advanced reviewer already. However, you can't get both a student assignment AND your monthly free assignment for being an advanced reviewer at the same time.

Great answer! Definitely check out the mentor program! It can be a lot of fun, and it will really help you getting familiar with writing reviews! Good luck!

Thanks for the info. For the less than three reviews, do they have to actually be reviews or can they just be comments? It seems like EF's system marks comments as reviews as well.

No, it has to be reviews. If you find one like that send JR a message and he'll take care of you. I am pretty sure that issue was taken care of though, it could be that the product has been assigned already.

Oh okay, thanks for the info. I think I'm going to request a mentor and join a class. This does seem a lot more fun than I thought originally.

There is no harm in going through the mentor program. You mentioned you write fairly decent reviews, the mentor program can help you to write great reviews!

I just wanted to note that not all mentors will request free items for you. Especially if you already have the upgrade. And they might have their own set of rules about it as well. Be sure to talk with a mentor before sending a request. You want to pick a mentor you are compatible with.

I'm in the mentor program and it is really great! My mentor is very helpful, answers my questions quickly and has good advice on writing and what is expected from the community.
